Once again I am sorry if a similar thread allready exists.

After I have adressed the issue is saw with gimmicks like a coca cola sign at the Burgers zoo mews thread, I thought I would like to voice a concern I found contradicting, that zoos and aquaria sell products and therefor more or less indirectly promote problematic companies.

Most people are cautious to try new things, but the same time would not it be the perfect oportunity to promote local enviorment friendly brands.

Big coorporations are most often only peofir oriented, having a reputation to fear to sacrifices, including ethics like sustainibility.

Further should not these institutions of education take a stand and directly adress the issues, especialy the false shift of responsibility from the companies soley to the consumers that held no where near the power they did ?

I am asking naively should we zoo enthusiasts take action contacting the zoos and aquaria requesting to adapt their shops and restaurants, and exhibitions on the topic?

Yes you should, and it can make a difference Some years back my wife accompanied me to a zoo conference that happened to be at a marine theme park that had a hotel attached. At the opening someone from the park talked about the problem of plastic straws for marine animals. While I was in a session she was relaxing at the bar and was given a plastic straw. She emailed the head office of the company that owned the park and at the closing it was announced that the CEO had ordered that plastic straws be removed because of feedback from somebody attending the conference. Two things, be respectful, and understand that sometimes there are very good reasons why something is being used.
