Went on a quick day trip to the Isle of Sheppey for non-birding reasons but still got a handful of additions, including a fairly pleasant lifer. I might return later this year to visit Elmley Reserve as it appears to be a very good birding spot in a moderately accessible area from London.

98. Common tern, Sterna hirundo
99. Greater whitethroat, Corruca communis
100. Eurasian collared dove, Streptopelia decaocto

And that is my century and target reached! Can't say I expected to do so but a few large tallies and a trip to Cyprus did help a fair bit. I hope to add to it in dribbles as time goes on but for now I'm pretty pleased with it. For now nothing concrete planned over the summer but hopefully some additions sprinkled in there.

Went to Hamerton today so along with the plentiful additions to other challenges are a few bird sightings. Aside from these sightings, I must have seen 20 or so Red kites at various points throughout the day - to the extent that I'd challenge anyone to stay the day in Hamerton without seeing one! I also had a lovely sighting of a pair of Western marsh harriers on an abandoned barn roof from the train.

101. Rook, Corvus frugilegus
102. Grey wagtail, Motacilla cinerea
103. Yellowhammer, Emberiza citrinella

End of May update.
Birds
169. Lark Sparrow (Chondestes grammacus)
170. Red-whiskered Bulbul (Pycnonotus jocosus)

Been a while since I've posted an update. As I expected, my work schedule and the hot California summer has slowed my stream of new birds to a hiatus. In the past six weeks I've only added one, along with a couple of neat reptiles:

Birds
171. Loggerhead Shrike (Lanius ludovicianus)

Reptiles
6. Blainville’s Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma blainvillii)
7. California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis californiae)

A general update from the past couple of months. The birds have largely been coming in as bits and pieces. The Topknot Pigeons have been everywhere in huge flocks as part of their local migration. They could be easily confused as Feral Pigeons from a distance but with binoculars they are clearly distinguishable. The grounds of Australia Zoo have produced some interesting species as well like a Forest Kingfisher with the lemurs, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos near the rhinos and a Little Wattlebird in the koala walkthrough. In terms of inverts, highlights have included the mole cricket and my first assassin bug.

Birds
112) Black Kite Milvus migrans
