I did have a question about the The Coelacanth Stamp of Approval, would "Chinese Giant Salamander" also apply as an acceptable species?

A few days I compared how many I'd got in relation to the challenge but in Europe instead. Just to clarify I have not visited any North American zoos this year, so obviously my tally won't be counted but just thought it would be interesting to see where this challenge was particularly difficult for Europeans versus North Americans.

I have visited London Zoo, Pafos Zoo, Birdworld and London Wetland Centre so far this year, with plans for Hamerton and maybe a couple of places further abroad, so using the above colour code to clarify where I saw what:

The hardest ones for Europeans look to be the Edgar Allen Poe (the two Corvus and the New World jay), the Rookery Roundabout (we don't have that much penguin variety) and One Drop One Life with the 8 rattlesnakes.
The ones that appear easier are all the bird ones (apart from the two noted above and the Alfred Russel Wallace), and Bona Fide Rarity Hunter.

Just a little update to my life as a stowaway on this thread :P.

Looking over my totals today and realized some re-aranging could get me closer to completing Cat Got Your Tongue. Since Cheetahs occur in Asia too, I can count the Cheetahs I saw at DAK as my Asian cat and use the Servals I saw at Animal Haven as my African cat.

Cat Got Your Tongue - 4/6 Panthera 1/1 American small cat 1/1 Eurasian small cat 1/1 African small cat

7. Serval Leptailurus serval

Also, and I apologize if this was clarified elsewhere, but I saw a zoo employee walking a domestic dog through the zoo today. Does this count for the challenge or does it have to be in an exhibit?

Yeah, I'd say that counts. I counted a security dog at DAK for someone earlier, and this seems like a similar situation to me.

One Drop, One Life (18/20)
Santa Catalina Rattlesnake (Crotalus catalinensis)
Sidewinder (Crotalus cerastes)
Tiger Rattlesnake (Croatlus tigris)
Prairie Rattlesnake (Croatlus viridis)

You are at 16, not 18. You still only have 2 of 4 elapids (cobras, mambas, etc).

This is my fault because of the typo, but just so everyone is clear and on the same page: One Drop One Life only requires 18 species, not 20. The subtotals are: 4 elapids, 8 rattlesnakes, 4 non-rattlesnake vipers, and 2 lizards (Komodo Dragon and 1 Heloderma).

Bovine Bonanza - 16/20
17. Blue Duiker Philantomba monticola
Bovine Bonanza - 18/20
18. Thomson's Gazelle Eudorcas thomsonii

You are at 19. If you're having trouble keeping track of this one, just remember: one more ;)

Los Angeles Zoo (28 May)

Have Trunk Will Travel: 4/4 COMPLETED
3. Baird's Tapir (Tapirus bairdii)
4. Mountain Tapir (Tapirus pinchaque)

Another Dang Meerkat: 4/4 COMPLETED
4. Los Angeles Zoo

28/36 trials completed
35/36 trials in progress
Total zoo visits so far: 13

And with that I think I'll be mostly stalled for a while... only additions planned for the next couple months at least will be a penguin or two.

I guess this is what progress looks like for me now :p

Santa Barbara Zoo (23 Jul)

Rookery Roundabout: 2/6
2. Humboldt Penguin (Spheniscus humboldti)

28/36 trials completed
35/36 trials in progress
Total zoo visits so far: 14

How did you complete 35 out of the 36 trials but only see one penguin species?
