Marwell Wildlife Marwell 2022 News

From Amur leopard and cheetah to clouded leopard and serval.. the cats at Marwell seem to have shrunk a tad in size over the years!
Nothing against it, however, it is surely nice to see a major zoo aside Cotswolds with Clouded Leopard..

Very true it’s great to see other places with them - Shepreth also has two and a good space for them.

Meanwhile, in other news...
BRICKOSAURS! Unleashed Weekend - Marwell Zoo
On the 18-19 weekend, a moving triceratops and 'impressive raptor' [no picture that I can find for the latter] will be walking around the zoo 'making a lot of noise' and 'posing for photos'.
Also walking around the park are two dinosaur characters; 'Spike' and 'Poppy'.
Possibly to coincide with the movie release?
Though to be fair this is somewhat more intricate than the two other dino displays Marwell had in previous years...
Though it makes me wonder if there will be such a thing in 2023.

Marwell sent an email (white text on a neon greenish yellow background so not sure they actually wanted people to read it!) to members saying from tomorrow (14th July) members no longer need to book in advance to visit.

Have the Clouded Leopards been active? Can't see any photos in the gallery. Planning a visit next month, haven't been in years!

Still hide away but getting more active, the last Nyala at Marwell has died, first arrived in 1972

Ah that’s a shame. She looked in good health not two weeks ago.

Cloudies we’re very much hidden back then too. One window was also blocked off to allow them to settle in.

Does that mean it is now just sitatunga in the paddock behind the gift shop? Are there any plans for that paddock as their numbers have been dwindling too?

That’s awful news. Another charismatic antelope gone. They we’re sizeable in number not a few years ago if I remember correctly?

Having been a regular visitor since I was a child I’ve taken these species for granted. I’ve not seen a Nyala anywhere else, and now doubt I will for many, many years.

They're still in a few UK collections, closest to Marwell probably being Africa Alive
