Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

Actually, Golden Snub-nosed Monkeys are fairly common in Chinese zoos, Kumamoto Zoo in Japan and Everland Zoo in S. Korea also have them. Some species that already in PZ are rarer in captivity, like Platypus and Goliath Frog
you know the HBB? they are also fairly common in chinese zoos, but it looks like the most hated animal is the himalayan brown bear. even being common in asian zoos.

They’re only “standard” in Australia. So while they’re not “rare in captivity”, they’re not widespread like 90% of Planet Zoo’s habitat animals. I think the Proboscis Monkey is in a similar boat, not being held anywhere outside of Asia (which is a fair bit bigger than Australia, but my point still stands).
I still remember waking up to the Southeast Asia Animal Pack announcement and being like "Okay, we have a Sun Bear-IS THAT A PROBOSCIS MONKEY?! 8 ANIMALS?!"
And with the Wetlands Animal Pack it was like, "Looks like I'll have to wait until Thursday for a DLC announcement-NEVER MIND we got wetlands-PLATYPUS?!"
I wasn't expecting either of them to be added to the game, and then they were added to the game and became my favorite animals of their respective packs.
And that's the magic of Planet Zoo: if you want a build a zoo with Proboscis Monkeys, Chinese Pangolins, European Badgers, and Platypuses in the United States, go right ahead! And if we ever get aviaries, I wouldn't be surprised if Frontier decided to add the Philippines Eagle!
the phillipines eagle will be a great choice, since it's a critically endangered species and it has a conservation story in zoos.

I am not sure which zoo in China has Himalayan Brown Bear, b/c the pedigree management in Chinese zoos is quite messy, so cross-breeding with other subspecies is inevitable. But I know Tibetan Blue Bears are not rare in East Asian zoos, u can find them in Xining (Qing-Tibet Plateau WildlifeZoo), Chengdu, Tianjin, even Kobe Zoo in Japan, which gets the bears from China. Interesting fact, the political tension btw China and Japan do not impact the close cooperation of their zoos and conservation projects. The zoos in Japan can acquire Golden Snub-nosed Monkeys and Crested Ibis, which are unable to be acquired by Western top zoos.

wait, why can't golden snub nosed monkeys and crested ibis live in western top zoos? if i'm not mistaking the san diego zoo had golden snub nosed monkeys in the 80s.

i just discovered now, the shangai zoo has them.

China doesn't want to export them.
LA was supposed to receive Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys in 2009 or so, but they just got snubbed instead.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Frontier adds them to whatever the Fall/Winter DLC pack is, since DLC’s are usually befitting of the season.
  • Spring: South America, Southeast Asia, Wetlands (all lush, green, warm, wet, mostly tropical locations)
  • Summer: Australia, Africa (arid, hot, and dry places, Conservation is an oddball)
  • Fall: North America (the music in the trailer sounded very autumn-y before it transitioned into Mardi Gras, I guess)
  • Winter: Arctic, Europe (Arctic is clearly a pack made for the holidays, and the livestream before the Europe pack’s reveal was “cozy cabin vibes” themed, Aquatic is weaker but has penguins I guess)
So what could the next DLC be, knowing this? I’m thinking it could be a mountains/alpine themed animal pack, but it could really be anything.

well, that's a good point, i believe china doesn't want because it's considered as a national property just like giant pandas, but if they wanted to, i think china would make a deal with the zoos that would receive them, like china does with panda, and someday they would return to china. so that's i think how would be this, this is just my opinion.

i think it could be an islands or a nocturnal animal pack, since animals like tasmanian devil and fossa are highly requested by the comunnity, so they will probably add them to the game.

Zoos have tried this and gotten scammed, basically. LA and Prague have both tried over the last couple decades.

Given that the next pack is coming out in autumn/October (and will likely be released on World Animal Day much like last time), my money's actually on a Nocturnal Animal Pack. Based on the meta-wishlist alone, Tasmanian devil, two-toed sloth, African crested porcupine, wombat, fossa, kiwi, North American raccoon and *insert wild card exhibit animal here* are all likely. Personal preferences from me would be stuff like aye aye, slow loris, any civet or genet species, Nancy Ma's night monkey, ocelot, caracal, anything like that. @Leaf Productions provides a unique insight into why a Nocturnal Animal Pack is actually plausible (especially because of halloween/autumn), I'd highly recommend checking out his video on the matter. I think @GiornoPizza's original post highlighting this concept actually gave me pause to look at the meta-wishlist, and it's holding a hell of a lot of water, certainly more than I could ever fathom.

For the record, Conservation did kind of follow the "hot and dry" motif as well, with scimitar-horned oryx and the Przewalski's horses being the more "deserty" animals of the pack, while siamangs and axolotl at least stayed true to the "hot" motif. Amur leopards I *guess* would be the anomaly, but they were the #1 most requested animal before Conservation was announced.

I mean, most of the community assumed it was a grassland pack with African Leopards because of the heavy emphasis on sunflowers and other plants.

Ooh, I like the sound of that! I think a gecko (preferably a Tokay) would make for a good exhibit animal if this ever happens.
I imagine the announcement trailer being mostly dark with occasional sounds from the animals, and the music building up to a soft “jumpscare” from the pack’s flagship popping it’s head into frame (I think the raccoon would be the best for this). And the proper trailer music might be a bit slower and creepier than other remixes of the main theme.
Im guessing we’ll get an announcement in mid-September if it’s releasing on Animal Day.

i also thought it was a grasslands pack with african leopards, but if the african leopard had made in the game, people would be so angry since they are rare in captivity, but it's an iconic animal and planet zoo has many iconic animals that made in the game, and yes i know that real-life zoos generally kep asian leopard subspecies in captivity more often because they have a greater value in conservation, i understand and respect them, but i think to someone who wants to build a rainforest themed zoos, i think african leopard would be a great choice, because it's an african apex predator and it would have a unique behavior, although it would be a simple "jaguar reskin" to some people.

Good quess, personally I'm betting on an island animals pack with the following:
  • Tasmanian Devil
  • Goodfellow's Tree-Kangaroo
  • Fossa
  • North Island Brown Kiwi
  • Japanese Serow
  • Scottish Wildcat
  • Hawaiian Monk Seal
  • New Caledonian Giant Gecko (Exhibit)
All of them come from a different island/archipelago which I think would be really interesting.

What is the maximum size that the Indian Elephants can get in the game? I have a 3.43-meter tall bull and he is MASSIVE!!! He makes the cows look like juveniles! It makes me think why do people want Wolly Mammoths back when we already have elephants that can get this big? Also, I'm surprised we haven't seen a good Sumatran Rhino mod yet. Lastly I like how the newest Black Rhino mod is the size of the extinct Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis.
