Helsinki Zoo Korkeasaari Zoo, Helsinki

Hello! One question, do you know which animals used to be kept in the fennec fox house on the habitats you see first when entering the house? They have been empty for the last two years. It seems to me that the building is underused with one snake and the foxes only.
I think there may have been a chameleon of some kind, maybe jackson's or veiled in one of them.

There are already three reindeer babies. One of them seemed to walk a bit clumsy, so maybe it was born very recently.

The lionesses were quite noisy today with big roars. There are some new fences so that people can't get too close to the glass on one of the sides. Maybe there's something going on with them?

Two things about my visit today. First of all the Patagonian conures have been gone for at least two weeks now and I have no idea where they have gone. However they are still signed and on the website. On more exiting news, on one of the empty africasia terrariums is a sign saying awaiting new arrivals from Germany, with a picture of an elephant shrew!

The park will open a new African pigmy goat garden later this summer in the former reserve enclosure for vicunas. I guess they are moving the goats away from the construction sites.

Also, the male Amur leopard has moved from the enclosure next to the lions to the enclosure next to the female Amur leopard.

I saw today a sign saying that a new animal is coming to the zoo in the former raccoon enclosure:

Pallas' cat

No date has been announced yet.

Also, I saw several very tiny maras sucling from their mother, they must have been born very recently.

Amazing news!

I wonder if the zoo will ever use the old skunk enclosure again or will it just be empty forever.

Which is that enclosure? Ththe playground next to the bears? I haven't noticed any empty enclosure apart from those close to the bridge building area.

After the Crown Bridges construction finishes (in 2025 or 2027 if I remember correctly?), I'm sure there will be a plan for it, as well as for the old goat yard and the new land area that the zoo gets from construction site!

I didn't even know the zoo will actually gain land from the construction which is pretty exciting!
