Zoochat Challenge North America 2022

*Alright so, one of the last Galápagos tortoises I've not yet been able to identify has a high likelihood of being C. guntheri, based on the article linked below. However, it's also entirely possible that the individual is a hybrid between C. guntheri and C. vicina, or perhaps is a purebred vicina (the article was written about a year before the hatch of the individual in question, so it can't be entirely depended upon). I have yet to try to compare this individual's shell to known guntheri and vicina, but it is at least rather likely to be the former. Regardless, I seem to recall that any Galápagos count for this challenge, but I'm happy to not count this individual if that is what is deemed appropriate. Just let me know!

All very interesting to hear. For the purposes of this challenge, though, I will take any Galapagos tortoise from the Chelonoidis niger complex regardless of ID or hybrid status - I'll count it in your score :)

Looks like I’m no longer the only person who unwittingly completed this challenge with Sharknado!

Whoops! I forgot sloth bear (Columbus and then Cleveland- but Columbus first). I hope to go to the Detroit Zoo and Keystone Safari in Grove City, PA, before the year is out, but neither of them have giant panda or Asian black bear. Asian black bear is the only bear I haven't seen- the closest holders to me are Nemacolin Wildlife Preserve in PA (3 1/2 hours) and T&D Cats of the World, also in PA (5 hours).

And I forgot that I got One Zoo Wonder!!! I hope to add some more to the challenges I haven't completed yet before the end of the year, but not sure what else I can add to since I'll probably just be going to Detroit Zoo and Keystone Safari.

Sharknado was just one of three trials that they One-Zoo Wonder'd! The others were Ring 'n Ruff at Cleveland and Late to the Party at Columbus.

Detroit would complete the zebra challenge, add wildebeest and eland to bovines, clean up the penguins (one of them being King Penguins), add Chinese alligator to the six-pack, and giant salamander to the stamp of approval.
Also, I checked your totals and you’re actually at 9/20 for bovine bonanza. Water Buffalo don’t count because they are domestic. Sorry. (Neither do yaks)

Whoops... didn't realize yaks and water buffalo didn't count! I knew animals such as domestic cattle, goats, pigs, horses and sheep didn't, but wasn't so sure about yaks and water buffalo. Thanks for the info about Detroit! I just don't know what I can see because I'll be going in December, but I'll be on the lookout for those species. I'd probably add a couple things at Keystone Safari in Grove City, Pa., too...
