Baby Aardvark Update

The baby has been named Nandi. She mostly keeps close to her mother, Zola, although at three months old, she is starting to become more independent in exploring her habitat.

She has also begun training to join her parents as part of the Zoo's Animal Ambassador Program, which means she'll join wildlife care specialists during presentations for zoo visitors.

A couple things I noticed on my first visit (days 8/10 and 8/12):
The baby Linnaeus's sloth was brought out for a wildlife presentation at the Rady Ambassador Presentation area with Xena. According to the keepers giving the presentation, this was the first time she had been brought out to the public.
I noticed an unsigned small white heron (probably little egret) in Scripps Aviary.
On the 12th, I noticed that the Hamadrayas baboon enclosure had very little grass visible and was covered in soil. The baboons weren't visible, but I'm not sure if its a matter of them being off exhibit or not.

The zoo apparently was little affected by the passage of tropical storm Kay, given there is no mention of anything on the zoo's website or social media. Any of the locals heard otherwise?

Most of what I’ve seen is the mountains in San Diego are expected to catch most of the rainfall while the city/county at most should see about an inch of rain. I’ve looked at their socials too yet saw no notice of it and I can reach out to see what they say.

I was thinking the reported high winds in particular, given Lost Forest and the sky tram especially. Presumably there's nothing much that's happened since nothing has been announced, curious to see if they mention anything to you.

I’ve sent them a message via social media and I’ll reach out via phone on Monday after work to see what they say, I’m planning to visit the Safari Park soon and may do a day trip to the Zoo before then :)
