Great Lakes Aquarium Great Lakes Aquarium News

I have just uploaded more than 40 photos of this aquarium to the gallery and they are the first photos of this aquarium on ZooChat.

I just visited this aquarium today and found it very interesting and informative on the history of the area, although I agree with Snowleopards assessment from his 2014 road trip that a lot more could be done with the space in terms of adding animal exhibits.

Anyways, the map has a section for a new exhibit that is currently under development that's called the "Harborview Gallery" and will open in the fall-winter 2016 and naturally I was curious what this gallery would display and tried to find something on it. All I could find is the following Facebook link on their page, but at least it gives a brief glimpse.

I think this may also be part of it:

A new birds of prey exhibit called "Raptor Ridge" recently opened.

The water table is now gone, and a replacment exhibit will added soon.

The aquarium experienced the highest public attendance in 2022 than any other year since 2001. The numbers for 2002 would probably have been higher than last year's if the aquarium didn't temporarily close in October, '02, but this is still excellent news for the facility. Aquarium staff are seeking state funds to update the facility in response to attendance growth over the past decade, when previous numbers were at a stagnant low.
