Zoochat Challenge North America 2022

Whoops... didn't realize yaks and water buffalo didn't count! I knew animals such as domestic cattle, goats, pigs, horses and sheep didn't, but wasn't so sure about yaks and water buffalo. Thanks for the info about Detroit! I just don't know what I can see because I'll be going in December, but I'll be on the lookout for those species. I'd probably add a couple things at Keystone Safari in Grove City, Pa., too...
No problem! I’ve also been trying to figure out which challenges I want to complete before the end of the year and what places in Arizona/Wisconsin I could go to do so.

So, you split your time between Arizona and Wisconsin? I've been to both states, but never visited any zoos in either or.

Welcome to the game @pichu and @CleZooMan :)

One Drop, One Life (17/20)- eastern massasauga, banded rock, timber, canebrake, eastern diamondback and dusky pygmy rattlesnakes (Columbus), Aruba and mottled rock rattlesnakes (Toledo), eyelash viper (Cleveland), Russell’s, jumping and rhinoceros vipers (Toledo), Komodo dragon (Toledo), Gila monster (Columbus), cape and red spitting cobras (Columbus) and false water cobra (Toledo)

17/18 - you only need another cobra/mamba.

The Coelacanth Stamp of Approval (4/15)

You only need 12 of the 16 species in this challenge - 3/4 mammals, 3/4 birds, and 3/4 herps.

Rookery Roundabout (2/6 or 2/12)

The first one. And you are done with bears, there is no "depending".

Looks like I’m no longer the only person who unwittingly completed this challenge with Sharknado!

Sharknado is the most common challenge people got One Zoo Wonder for. I purposely set the shark total lower than I could have because the majority of people don't seem to visit more than one aquarium a year - making it an easy target for OZW is an added benefit of this.

Whoops! Another user tried to say that it could be either 5 bears or 8 bears, but I misunderstood, unfortunately. I am glad I got OZW for Sharknado (at Toledo Zoo's excellent aquarium!) as well as Ring 'n Ruff (Cleveland) and Late to the Party (Columbus).

Yeah, I should’ve just said you needed 5 bears and left it at that… I was only suggesting getting all 8 because maybe you’d get a shout-out for it.

Sharknado is super easy to do at one facility; few places keep less than 4 species. My first aquarium of the year had 12.

I got off work early this past Sunday but totally neglected to post my latest sightings. I hope you'll still accept them.

I also tried the fun exercise to check how I would rate in the NA Challenge this year. I think, I'm a Penguin and Gopher tortoise away from the finish line. I don't remember seeing the Tortoise at Prague, Plzen or Wroclaw, but I will probably get it until the end of the year. Been at Faunia last year, but this year my Penguin total is going to stay 5 :) Bona Fide Challenge considered from European stand point.

Got the Texas gopher tortoise at Prague :)

So I should probably update this thread :D Back in early May I privately decided to stop participating for the year, as I was becoming too focused on going to zoos that had needed species and didn't feel like I was trying to go to places purely for enjoyment. After doing one big trip that coincidentally got me a bunch of species, I've gone back and forth on whether I should rejoin or not. Another trip that was family-related got me more, including the species that was hardest for me to get (lesser flamingo), and now I'm two fairly easy species away from completion. I'm still undecided on whether I will get those two or not, but I figured I should post this all instead of telling Sealy about changing my mind again :D
