Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

Well, this is unexpected. Next Wednesday, there will be an 80-minute livestream of Planet Zoo-inspired music.
This would be useless information, but notice that there will be 12 tracks. There are currently 11 DLC packs, and if we count Deluxe edition and the Black-and-White Ruffed Lemur as part of the base game (the former released alongside PZ on November 5th, 2019, while the latter comes bundled with the base game now), then that makes 11. I suspect DLC number 12 will be teased during this livestream, if not revealed beforehand.
By the way, I don’t think Animal Day release date is gonna happen. Probably October 11th.
Don’t let us down, Frontier…

Also, will Frontier fix the running gait for rhinos? They have it right for hippos, but rhinos gallop like horses and tapirs. Plus they can move much faster than what is currently portrayed in the game!

Taking a break from PZ to make a theme park based on the British royal family in RCT3. Having so much fun and getting pretty far.... it's gonna be AWESOME!!! PZ is great but it takes so long to build stuff.

This just in: Frontier Forums are getting restless. This might just be the most agonizing wait for a DLC we’ve ever had. Yes, even worse than the gap between South America and Australia. We’re so close, we’ve been getting little bits and pieces of information, but none of it points to anything.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to catch the Sounds of Summer stream live (darn college classes…), but there better be something teased by the end of it…
Also, I just realized that “Sounds of Summer” abbreviates to “SOS”. Make of that as you will.

I've never known any place worse for extrapolation, over-analysis, over-confident parsing, and then self-imposed disappointment than those forums.

(And I was reading the GallifreyBase Missing Episodes thread during the Omnirumour. #nichehumour)

They're all going to be tearing themselves and Frontier apart now for something that was entirely their own imagination. It's already starting.

Given the timing - a new DLC probably due - and the past model of teasing DLC info - a livestream - I think it is very understandable that people expected more from this and it is unfair to blame the community for making assumptions.

Is it? The company announced a music stream and are hosting a music stream. What have they done wrong? Hosted a stream a bit too close to when people decided it was time for news?

Yes, the timing caused the speculation but they can't expected to write, "no, really, it's just this" after every posting to stop this happening, and they can't just not post anything once it gets close to 3 months in case it causes speculation as that would a) not help the game's marketing and b) only cause even worse panic.

If anything, the mistake has been to release DLC too regularly - and do we really want to criticise that?

Yes that’s exactly what they have done wrong. Had this been done a couple of weeks after the last DLC people would not have had any expectations but given the timing and the recent pattern of announcements it’s astonishing that they didn’t think this would be badly received.

I agree with @Maguari. Frontier can do what Frontier is planning on doing, on their schedule. Not only does getting mad at Frontier for being on their own time-frame not help the next DLC come any faster, it also doesn't give them a very good opinion of the game's fans. I agree the PZ community assumes and speculates way too much and then usually gets annoyed when something isn't as they expect.

You're on Zoochat

I used to think I was cool because I avoided Smash speculation drama by speculating for Planet Zoo instead. This is nowhere near as bad (because PZ is more niche), but it still sucks…
In all seriousness, though, the Planet Zoo community isn’t nearly as toxic as some other video game communities (I’m a Pokémon fan, I’ve seen way worse than this, believe me). I think this is all a matter of unfortunate timing and miscommunications.
Hopefully this new DLC is a good one.

As a fan of both Pokemon and Smash, while I agree that the Pokemon fandom has been far worse than the Planet Zoo fandom in the past, the Pokemon fandom is actually quite the pleasant fandom right now. I'm happy to see they're no longer arguing about trees.

Planet Zoo is definitely starting to get close to the levels of the past Pokemon fandom now, though. People getting mad over Dexit was somewhat justifiable - they removed a major feature that had been a part of all previous Pokemon games, and the reason they stated for doing so was, while not a complete lie, not worded in a way people understood very easily. What the Planet Zoo fandom is getting mad about right now is just that they're whining about not getting more DLC.

I never found the Smash fandom to be toxic, more so that people sometimes thought it was funny to pretend to be toxic.

To be fair, from what I've seen it is indeed a very non-toxic community amongst itself. It just has a slightly dysfunctional relationship with the creators..!
