Keystone Safari Keystone Safari Species List (Walk-thru Only)

Today was my first visit to Keystone Safari in Grove City, PA. While I had been to the "sister park" Living Treasures Animal Park in New Castle, PA, before, this was my first visit to Keystone Safari and I was very impressed! I only went to the walk-thru portion and absolutely loved it. I thought the exhibits were more than adequate for pretty much all the animals, especially for non-AZA. It is a bit of a drive for me (1 1/2 hours) but I will definitely be back.

As there are no defined sections of the park, I have chosen to organize this list by alphabetical order, placing (DNS) next to animals I did not see and (CS) for the animals coming soon to the park.

Whoops... "Guinea Hen" (what they're called on the Keystone Safari website) is supposed to be "Helmeted Guineafowl." I also forgot Koi. Since I can't edit on here, here's the corrected species list.

Hi TinoPup,

Thank you for this! Where in the park were these species you mentioned? I did not see them at all or any signage for them. And thank you for the drive-thru list! The website mentions "Guanacos, Donkeys, Ponies, Highlander Cattle, Emu, Rhea, Gayal, Blackbuck, Nilgai, Pere David’s Deer, Fallow Deer, Bison, Yak, Gyr, Eland, Turkeys, Zebras, Elk and more!" And how were you able to determine that they have generic giraffe? Thank you so much!

Cheers,

Striped skunk was next to the butterfly area. Macaw was with scarlet macaw. Crowned crane were in a big yard to the left/before reindeer barn. Turaco and peacock-pheasant were to the left of addax, across from mandrill. Should be photos of each in the media from me, as well. There likely aren't any pure reticulated giraffes in the USA at all, they're all generic zoo mixes.

I went to the butterfly area and there was definitely no striped skunks near it, no blue-and-gold macaws in with scarlet (turquoise-fronted Amazon were next to scarlet), no crowned crane near the reindeer (or anywhere) and no turaco and peacock-pheasant across from mandrill. All of which are species I would have loved to have seen, however, especially crowned crane since my home Cleveland Metroparks Zoo no longer has them.

I knew a lot of zoos have generic giraffe, but I wasn't aware about there likely being no pure reticulated! I wonder how many Masai giraffes are actually generic zoo mixes.

Masai giraffes are pure.
