Fort Worth Zoo Fort Worth Zoo News

I'm guessing that if you saw only two, then they would most likely be Jonsey and Daisy, because they have been together in Fort Worth since 1986. Jonsey and Daisy might rotate on-exhibit with Bubbles, the third female, who arrived in 2018. The reason for separating might be because Daisy and Bubbles are full sisters (born to Uma and Tumbo at San Antonio Zoo) and they might have been fighting. Hippo sisters seem to get along well, but fighting possibly could have happened.
RhinoHippoElephantGiraffe is right. I visited twice earlier this year and saw Bubbles the first time, while I saw Jonsey and Daisy the second time. While uniting all three would be a good idea, I also think Bubbles has been doing just fine on her own since the death of her longtime companion Poppy in February 2019.

A new post on their Facebook says: Make sure you visit Stingray Cove while you can before we say goodbye for the beginning of construction for Phase 4 of a Wilder Vision, Forests & Jungles. After this weekend, Stingray Cove will be open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The last week to enjoy the rays is the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 20 - 26), open every day until we say goodbye at the end of the week!

Hopefully this means we will be getting some details on Forests and Jungles soon. Other than having a new exhibit for Okapi and relocating Bongo and Orangutan, the FW Zoo has been very vague on what this final part of the renovation would include.

I believe the master plan also showed two aviaries, an african and amazonian that is supposed to be a part of the final expansion but the zoo has not said what species will be in them

Visited the zoo today and have some construction photos to share of a couple developments including the Asian Predators and Hunters of Africa coming next year.

First, a photo of the end of the pathway near the Indian Rhino exhibit with a presumably Clouded Leopard exhibit directly behind the blockade.

Next is a photo of a new lookout above the Indian Rhino exhibit that is up the hill near the new Malayan Tiger habitat.

Then a couple of photos of the new African Lion exhibit and the Cheetah habitat that will be next to it up the hill.

Over by Texas Wilds, the Mountains and Desert area has some construction going on. Not sure what is happening here as I don't remember seeing something about this, might have missed it though. I've never been to this zoo before, what was in this area prior to this work?

I will probably post a full review of this zoo once I get back home and include it with a bunch of other reviews from my trips this year.

Fort Worth has had secretarybird(s) for quite some time, several years at least, but they are only visible from the train, so the vast majority of visitors miss them.
I had no idea, will definitely have to go on the train to see them when I go to see the new expansion next summer!
