Dutch zoo guides

I'm back baby!

Took a break to get back to some fantasy zooing, as I was all mapped out, as you may have noticed with the missing maps for species with a large distribution map. I got it out of my system and am ready to get back to drawing maps and playing animal tetris.

I was finally able to visit Dierenrijk for the first time last weekend. Sadly, bird flu meant I wasn't able to fully take in the Majesty of the Bird realm aviary they have there. Which is huge and absolutely wonderful.

I was surprised by the elephant enclosure as well, and really didn't expect that area to need a guide. But oh well.

I promise I'll get back to Pairi Daiza at some point, but quite frankly they're very intimidating when it comes to species density. I'm also planning on uploading Dutch versions on the Laafsekikkers forum at some point, though I'll have to do a LOT of translating before I get to that point (I already have quite a few of the guides available in Dutch, but I want to translate a few more before starting the uploads).

Dierenrijk will be going at a slow pace, as I don't want to overwork myself too bad again.

Finally fixed that Black kite map!

Forgot to mention that there are a lot of magpies and Common moorhen in here as well. I assume they're wild animals that got in by accident and now can't get out again.

Anyway

Either ZTL quickly changed the subspecies status of the Red deer population most prominent in European zoos after I uploaded my Red deer Subspecies map, or I misread it the first time. Either way. Dierenrijk holds Central European red deer (Cervus elaphus hippelaphus), and not the Swedish red deer (Cervus elaphus elaphus). They're very heavily hybridized so it doesn't really matter. But the Distribution map is off. Subspecies map can be seen here

I'll also be visiting de Orchideeënhoeve (a large butterfly garden) soon and hopefully make some guides for that.

From my visit in Ecomare about a month ago I can also make maps for their North Sea Aquarium, if anyone wants that
