What does everyone use to record their life-lists? I use eBird for wild bird sightings which is fine, but for my general zoo + wild tetrapod life-list, I have been using a Word document, which is now slightly 'baggy'.

I have been debating transferring it into Excel but wondered if anyone had any better ideas?

I've been using Google Sheets, while I don't like it quite as much as Excel, it does the job well enough.

I use Google sheets, but really either Sheets or Excel would work fine. I'd just suggest any simple spreadsheet app, and organize in there as you see fit.

I use simple Excel because it works offline and I am not annoyed by failed 'new features'. I am also not tracked by half of the world including my friends who can watch lists online.

I have an access database. Its like an excel but I have a data entry form that references separate life lists for birds, mammals, and so on. This allows me to record not just species I have seen once but species lists for individual institutions.

I thought about doing that a few years ago, but Access and SQL are the type of thing I forget how to work with, if I don't stick at it and ends up just giving me a headache.
I really want to complete an online reference site for myself, as I've decided to cut right back on zoo visits for the sake of visiting them.

well you can always put your excel on microsoft onedrive

I still prefer google sheets as I have multiple microsoft accounts and both apple and microsoft as operating systems. So Google sheets is for me still easiest to access my list on any of my current 4 laptops (indulgent I know....).

I use bird journal mobile app which is meant for birds, but a user added all mammals to it (which is all I personally keep track of) including subspecies.

Not sure if there’s lists on there for other classes but I’d definitely recommend it.

I don't really use Excel much, nor do know how to, neither do I really need all the funtions of Excel for it, so Spreadsheets works just a lot nicer I think
