Knowsley Safari Park Knowsley Safari Park news 2022

Reading the advert it does seem to be more about families and people rather than focusing in the animals (I could be wrong) but I'm looking forward to seeing what the series has in store and hopefully see Knowsley in a new light
That was my initial impression from the advert but the filming of people experiencing the drive is only a part of it and took place for a few weeks in August. The film crews are based at the house on the Safari drive and are out and about throughout the day (both on the drive and around the foot Safari). I saw the crew out filing yesterday and so this is now the 4th month of them filming at the park.

I have no idea. The enclosure on the foot safari looks set for the wolves again but all of the signs of the wolves such as the big wolf portrait has been removed so a new species could be added here but I really don't know. I think the plan for the remaining wolves before they bred was the males and females would be separated and one would move to the foot safari whilst the others stayed on the drive but that went out of the window when they had pups.

Devastating news. Sinda and her sister Bira who now lives in Ireland have been there ever since I have been going to knowsley so incredibly sad that they are now both not there. In all fairness I think Sinda was a bit old for breeding but it is not for me to make that judgement. I guess the chances of miron being introduced to a new female I'm guessing are slim but time will tell. Very sad

Sad news this morning the male tiger miron killed the female tiger sinda on the 12th nov whilst putting them together it’s news on their Facebook page

Just reading the comments on social media(how true this is I don't know) that Miron has apparently had unsuccessful introductions before.

This is a devastating situation, my thoughts are with everyone connected to her ar Knowsley and i personally will miss seeing Sinda.

One thing I don't understand, why did the studbook allow a 14yr tigress who has never bred before to be in that situation?
Surely it would have been better to keep her as a solitary tiger maybe on the drive through like her sister before she moved and bring in a younger female(obviously this situation could have happened with any female).
Regardless of my views this is a devastating situation for all involved.

Yes I believe miron has had unsuccessful introductions at Copenhagen zoo but cannot remember if he killed the female. But I totally agree, sinda shouldn't have been in that situation (neither should Bira when kuzma was on loan).

According to question 6 on their blog he did :(

Miron had not shown any unusual levels of aggression to female tigers here at Knowsley Safari, however he had fatally injured a female while at Copenhagan Zoo in 2018. We were aware of this when Miron arrived at Knowsley, but given the facilities here and expertise of the team it was we felt that we could meet Miron’s needs. The introductions between the two had been taken very slowly and managed carefully over a two-year period.

Some sad news to share

Yes I thought he killed her but didn't want to say that in case I was wrong. It is such a shame he is a magnificent animal and got to be one of the biggest amur tiger I have ever seen.

I am absolutely devastated by this news sinda along with bira who moved to Ireland a few months back they were some of my favourite animals in the park I remember doing a tiger experience back in 2019 and meeting both bira and sinda and they were both really friendly

And I'm a bit confused by this devastating development because I remember seeing miron and solidarity mixed together before and they seemed OK around each other

And was their really a point in getting sinda to breed because se was already 14 so she was getting on in age so realistically she probably wouldn't have been able to breed

Had a quick visit today and only thing to note is that the sea lions now have access to the indoor and outdoor enclosures in between the displays.
