Animals No Longer At Your Zoo You'd Like To See There Again

The Memphis Zoo used to have sun bears and I always liked them. They also used to have a huge alligator gar come to think of it and once had an eastern indigo snake on display. Memphis has improved a lot over the years but I'd really like to see those three again. Doubt I'll ever see sun bears there again but as they talk about updating the aquarium and reptile house the other two would be nice to see again.

Sad to hear they're losing their Elephants and hippos. Their enclosures are quite outdated though, so that might be a good thing.

They will be here for quite a while longer as the tiger exhibit will probably be done by 2024-2025 then next can come the new children zoo, splash pad, and rhino exhibits that replace them. But the elephants could die before then. But they will probably be gone before 2030

For mine (St. Louis), it would be:

- Hyacinth Macaw, the Bird House isn’t the same without them
- King Eider
- Serval, I’m pretty sure they’re gone
- Brown Pelican
- Meerkats, I know they’re dirt common in zoos but I honestly love them
- Matschie’s Tree Kangaroo
- Nigerian Dwarf Goats (this is mostly a nostalgia thing for me)
- Bat-eared foxes, haven’t been on exhibit for a while

I don't think they'll ever come back to the Milwaukee Zoo, but way back in the day they used to have Proboscis Monkey's and an Amazonian River Dolphin, both of which I would love to have been able to see!

As far as animals that MKE has gotten rid of in the time that I've been going there, I definitely miss their entire Australia section as well as their Moose. Don't get me wrong, the elephants definitely deserve the increased space they got and overall I have positive feelings about the other new African exhibits, but that being said a zoo just doesn't feel like a zoo without Australian animals to me! If my memories correct we even used to have tree kangaroos in the Aussie house, which are animals I definitely wish we could have kept somehow. From what I understand not many zoos have moose either, so in retrospect its kinda cool MKE used to have them, and even sadder that we don't now.

Not sure if this counts for this threat, but the MKE zoo used to mix its Brazilian Tapirs and Humboldt penguins together, which I think is a really interesting and unique mixed species exhibit that would surely make MKE more special if they ever returned to that idea.

Pretty sure they still have Wombat, and I think a couple others you highlighted too.
