annual passes

At the bottom of my letter it says expiry date 31-Jan-09 next to my membership number and barcode. I can imagine having fun trying to get into other zoos with that.

My photo is in colour also this year.

I noticed that also, I was going to ask them about it when I pick my card up thursday.

In the past year I have used my Chester pass at Bristol, Paignton, Edinburgh, Highland Wildlife Park and Twycross. In earlier years I have also used it at Marwell and Colchester. I have never had any problem at all: my reception at all these zoos has always been very friendly.

Hi Alan l hve looked on Chester site. It does not list what zoos offer free entry with Chester membership.

You have listed above, do you know of other zoos that free entry is available with this pass?

Thanks for that reply Pygathrix, I haven't got the paperwork to hand at the moment as I'm travelling, so I couldn't answer it.
Unless things have changed since last summer, I got into HWP under false pretences :o
Seriously, I always try to spend some money at any zoo I visit for free; I would feel rather guilty if I didn't.

MMMM gentle lemur travelling, so can we look forward to some zoo reviews and pictures?

Edinburgh is still listed, I expect HWP is included. Paignton says zoos, I used my card at Living Coasts last year. The gentleman on the ticket office had trouble finding Chester on his list, it was listed as North of England Zoological Society. He then proceeded to spend 15 minutes telling me all about Living Coasts, their birds and the planned aquariums ection. It was very interesting. Luckily there was no queue.

Life was so muich simpler when Chester posted a new card each year.

Thought this was relevant from Blackpool zoo.

It’s good news for Blackpool Zoo Annual Members and their friends and family!

The award-winning attraction has launched its brand new 2009 Annual Membership Pass which provides even more great savings and benefits to regular visitors.

Annual Members can now invite up to four guests to join them for a great day out at the zoo – and their guests will enjoy a 50% discount on the admission price.

Jude Rothwell, PR and Marketing Executive at Blackpool Zoo, said: “In the last year we have seen an increase in sales of our Annual Passes which shows that we are continuing to build a very loyal visitor base.

“An Annual Pass is already great value, as it costs less than three visits to the attraction and can be used at any time throughout the year. However, as a big thank you to regular visitors we are now offering even more benefits.”

Annual Members will also receive a 10% discount at the zoo’s shops and restaurants, a regular newsletter and email updates on the attraction’s latest news.

In addition, Annual Members will be able to take advantage of half price admission into Parques Reunidos’ other UK attractions, the Aquarium of the Lakes and the Bournemouth Oceanarium.

What zoo membership offers the most reciprocal right of entry to other UK zoos?

The consortium we are discussing here is the only big one in the UK and Ireland, and the rights are really the same whichever zoo you join.
The only others that I know of are the ZSL one for London and Whipsnade only and the Merlin annual pass for the Sea Life Centres and Chessington Zoo, plus the London Aquarium, several theme parks and Madame Tussaud's waxworks (but that's not cheap at £150 for an adult).
I didn't know about the one for Blackpool etc, so I'll take a look at that.

In answer to your previous comment my travels have just finished. I've had three days of uninspiring weather and dreadful delays on the roads. I have a very few pictures of ducks from Slimbridge and Arundel, and I'm just downloading some shots from today at Whipsnade. I will post some results soon but don't expect too much.

mmmm duck pictures can't wait:rolleyes:

Thank-you for clearing up the zoo entry information. The one for blackpool will be interesting to hear. Will have to join Chester just for the nostalgia value.

All going well, l will be there around mid sept through to mid oct.
