Milwaukee County Zoo Milwaukee County Zoo News 2022

Updates for 12/27/2022 Visit
Overall, there wasn't much to touch on about the zoo. I thought it was going to be a day with no one there, as it was a random Tuesday in December, but I guess it happened to be a free day, so there were more people there than I thought!

  • There was a new, unsigned bird species in the aviary with the Luzon-Bleeding Heart
  • There is a Boat-Billed Heron chick in the free-flight aviary, according to a volunteer
  • There were posts in front of two aviaries - the one with the Victoria crowned-pigeons, and the one with the pheasant pigeons next to it.
  • The old Cuttlefish tank is still empty, but it has an "Animal Habitat Temporarily Closed" sign on it
  • The new Green Anaconda, who is a female who apparently arrived a few weeks ago, was quite active. (I know people have been saying Henry Vilas is down to one anaconda, so may she came from there?)
  • I saw the new Chuckwallas!
  • That large enclosure in the corner is still boarded up, hopefully, they are working on it.
  • There is an exhibit that says: "This exhibit is being renovated." It has an Ornate Box Turtle sign on it, so maybe this is the species that is moving in? I believe there was a pair of young Leopard Tortoises in there before?
  • I saw the new De Brazzas! Very interesting species.
  • There is still the Goeldi's Monkey/Cotton-Top Tamarin pair in the large exhibit. I am still confused about why they only have that pair in that exhibit, while the larger family groups remain in the Small Mammals Building.
Any idea what the new bird is? Did you get a photo?

I'm not sure what the bird is. They were quite small, and I was not able to find a photo. I thought they were possibly a juvenile of one of the other species in there, but there were two that looked identical, and their tail-length and tail markings did not line up with the other species.

Hate to be that guy, but this happened three months ago and was already discussed.

You even liked the post where I reported this. :p
I don't know how I didn't remember this. I swear I even was looking at the website recently and it was in the old style. Oh well.
