On February 5th, the zoo announced they broke ground on a new Amur leopard holding facility which would be built by May. It would include the facility as well as a day room where guests can view the leopards when they aren't in their exhibit.

On February 10th, the zoo announced that they have acquired a (1.0) eastern screech owl named Captain which is now one of their newest ambassador animals.

On February 12th, the zoo announced that the Primate Row area is now officially opened and that their black and white ruffed lemurs, Schmidt's red-tailed guenons, black-headed spider monkeys, and Angola colobus monkeys are now back on exhibit.

On April 29th, the zoo announced they have acquired a (1.1) of southern screamers and are located in the lagoon exhibit. Also on April 29th, the zoo announced they have acquired a (1.0) chinchilla named Zucco as an animal ambassador.

On May 21st, the zoo announced that they have acquired a (1.0) American alligator. This will be the first time in 12 years the zoo has held the species. On July 1st, the zoo announced his name after a public vote, Big Al.
