Greenville Zoo Greenville Zoo News

They’re still raising funds. They are up against a matching funds deadline. Please help if you are able. Thx

The Amur leopard cubs, who just turned a year old, will be moving to new homes soon. One is going to Memphis, the other is off to Rosamond Gifford (did they build a new exhibit or is it replacing a species?).

Have they named these cubs and if could you share that, their gender and which is going where? Have never seen any updates on them with that information. Thanks very much if you are able to provide.

On May 22nd, the zoo announced that it will be open first to members from May 29th to May 31st, while regular guests will be available to visit the zoo on June 8th. Restrictions include wearing masks, tickets must be paid online, the gift shop will be opened at a limited capacity, and interior exhibits, water fountains, and playgrounds will be closed until further notice.

The Greenville Zoo is re-opening soon. Here's what you need to know

On July 15th, a 4-month-old baby Amur leopard escaped her enclosure at the zoo. She was found within the premises and was captured with a net.

On July 16th, it was reported that the zoo might still be able to get the upgrades to the lion and monkey enclosures the zoo fundraised back in 2019. COVID-19 played a major part in losing money, with the zoo losing 40% of the 85% gain the zoo would be getting throughout the year, but the zoo has enough reserves that at least the lion enclosure will be upgraded.

Providence was born on Feb. 21 at the zoo, weighing in at 148.5 pounds and standing at six feet tall.

Her mother is a 14-year-old giraffe named Autumn. The zoo had announced Autumn was expecting another baby in November 2020. Providence is the third calf for Autumn and Miles, the zoo's male Masai giraffe.
