I visited this past March and had good luck. They were sleeping the first time I went by, then I came back a half hour later and both of the badgers were extremely active, so I'd suggest going by the exhibit again if they aren't doing much at first. Spring or early Summer would be best I imagine.

Any time of year should be good. The badgers will most likely be active when you visit but you may have to keep coming back to the exhibit over the course of the day.

I've had a lot of success with them being active during my visits all throughout the year. As long as the day isn't extremely hot, they seem to be exploring/foraging in their enclosure.
