Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens Hong Kong Zoo Species list

And I think you're doing Ocean Park a disservice by only describing the aquarium aspects as "quite good".

I just want to point out that it isn't a zoo.I thought the aviary is good too, but not as good as Jurong.

That all depends on definition. The Edward Youde Aviary, and the three accompanying exhibits, is a collection of animals that can be viewed by the public, who have to 'enter' the collection in order to do so. The fact that it does not have the word zoo in its name is not so important I think.

Pleasant as it is, I don't think the Edward Youde Aviary quite matches up to Jurong's Waterfall Aviary. I look forward to hearing why you think it does, however.

@DavidBrown There are also live exhibits at the Hong Kong Wetland Park.

I didn't know of the Hong Kong Wetlands Park - I just looked at their website and it looks like a cool place. What animals do they have exhibited there? The website is somewhat unclear. It mentions tomistomas, mouse deer, yellow-margined box turtles, and archer fish - are all of those species exhibited?

Yes, all those. The collection was borderline for consideration as a "zoo", but the two large crocodilian exhibits pushed it over for me. It's primarily a restored wetland.

What croc species do they have in addition to tomistoma, or do you mean that they have two tomistoma exhibits? Do they have an aviary or other reptile exhibits? It looks like it is a good place to go birding?

A Saltwater crocodile named Bui Bui.It was rescued in the river near Wetland Park.Yes,the park is near Mai Po and is indeed a good place for birding(you have chance finding black-faced spoonbill:))

I don't recall any captive bird exhibits, but they did have some reptile terraria. Birding is what the place is really geared for.

Visit yesterday, somehow they got a kookaburra now. Unsigned. The bird section is open but the primate section is still close. I don't know why:confused:

From Baidu Baike:
曾经展出过许多珍贵动物,如云豹(1990年)﹑针鼹(80年代)、小熊猫、薮猫(90年代)﹑蜘蛛猴、松鼠猴及古氏树袋鼠(80年代)等。
translated:
Many precious animals have been exhibited, such as Clouded leopard (90s), Echidna (80s), Red panda, Serval (90s), Spider monkey, Squirrel monkey(Already In Exhibition) and Goodfellow's tree kangaroo (80s).

DO SOMEBODY HAD ANY IDEAS ON THOSE HISTORY COLLECTION?o_Oo_Oo_O

most likely fake.

Well Then... What Animal They Had Kept Before Then?

I remember seeing a leopard there (maybe 2?) when I visited for the first time in 2008. The reptile section in the corner also had a king cobra, which was later replaced with a Burmese python.
