The tropical house is currently closed for refurbishment, hopefully open for Easter

The Hawk Conservancy trust in Andover is somewhere I've wanted to visit for a few years now. I believe they have the only Indian White-backed Vulture (Gyps bengalensis) in the UK?They also have White-Headed Vultures and Black Sea Eagles ( Haliaetus pelagicus).
 
I can definately recommend the Hawk Conservancy, the displays are usually of a very high standard and i cant say that about many bird of prey shows. Birdland is also well worth a visit and the breeding group of King Pengiuns are always good to see.

Tropical house will no longer be a tropical house at Birdland, it is being redeveloped as an education centre/ auditorium. It has been gutted and all the plants removed. It will also have some poison arrow frogs, spiders some reptiles and insects and also a few avairies but the walk through Tropical House is no longer. Also the large aviary that housed the sacred Ibis, waldrups etc has fallen down due to the heavy snow. They will re-build it, subject to an insurance claim.

Yes they do have an Indian white-back, White-heads and Stellers. Agree with Mark77 that the displays are top-notch. Apparently they have been involved in training other presentations such as Singaopore's Jurong (which is equally good).

The hooded vultures are great just skimming over your head!
 
Birdworld was a good park in its time but at the moment its starting to go downhill, with many bird species leaving but not being replaced, 3 crested pigeons arrived about 8months ago... ( I had work experience there for 2 weeks and spent my breaks wandering around lol) Many of the exhibits do need re-doing which is a shame because it has a lot of potential. Sad thing is theres no Cassowaries left :(
