Planet Zoo Species Challenge 2023

Are we counting animals seen only in captivity, or do wild sightings also count?

I took it as implied they had to be in captivity, since this isn't the Big Year thread

If I have to see a Grizzly Bear and a Himalayan Brown Bear for the challenge, and if I am allowed to sub the Himalayan Brown Bear with any Brown Bear, does that mean that seeing a single Grizzly Bear counts towards both challenges?

Since other challenges allow one thing (for example, hypothetically, one red panda, at one zoo, one time) to count for multiple challenges, I'd assume so

Although I agree that more specified rules would be better.

Shepreth- 22nd Jan

1- Aardvark

16- Sulawesi Babirusa
17- Western Lowland Gorilla
18- Okapi
19- Bactrian Camel

The only zoo I've been to thus far is Banham Zoo, but I've seen the following...

1. Ring-Tailed Lemur
2. Reticulated Giraffe
3. Cheetah
4. Bactrian Camel
5. Snow Leopard
6. Red Panda
7. Siberian Tiger
8. Llama
9. Red Kangaroo
10. Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman
11. African Penguin
12. Meerkat
13. California Sea Lion

15. Black & White Ruffed Lemur
16. Asian Small-Clawed Otter
17. Siamang
18. Axolotl
19. Maned Wolf
20. Emu

Sounds fun, although you'll have to consider the odds the animal list may grow if new packs come out.

23/2/2023 - AFRICA ALIVE!

21. African Lion (probably not West African, but that's technically not valid anymore anyway, sooo...)
22. Plains Zebra
23. African Wild Dog
24. Common Ostrich
25. Aardvark
26. Greater Flamingo
27. Nyala
28. Red Ruffed Lemur
29. Southern White Rhinoceros
30. Nile Lechwe

Not counting the Forest Buffalo or Domestic Buffalo because they don't really "do it" for me, especially as AA's buffalos don't really look like other domestic water buffalo I've seen. There's more convincing stand-ins elsewhere.

I think you misunderstand - this isn't a zoo design thread, this is about animals from Planet Zoo you've seen this year. I can't find any evidence of a "Jayabaya Zoo" existing.

What do you mean by this? Do you mean add them to an existing zoo? If so, yes.

I meant can we add them if we've already seen them, now they've been announced.

OK, in that case, the Africa Alive post from earlier is now as follows...
