Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

Considering that people want ibises as habitat animals (inb4 they are considered waterfowl, they are still aviary animals) requesting vultures as habitat animals wouldn’t be so crazy.
Well, I would also request them as habitat animals in the best of cases! But... I dunno, I guess I'm feeling a bit pessimistic lately.

vultures would totally work as habitat animals, as many zoos keep them in outdoor encloures like in cincinnati zoo, they don't seem to fly too much.

That's because US zoos often pinion their vultures in this way, which is lamentable.
Yeaaaahh if we had vultures in PZ I would much rather they be a flying exhibit animal than a flightless habitat animal. Flight is SO important to them, it's what helps them find enough carrion to live! I feel it's especially integral to them. Same with eagles and parrots. I maaaay make an exception with ground hornbills, bustards, seriemas and secretary birds, but still...
Waterbirds and fowl are already habitat birds capable of flight that can't do it, so I see no issues there. Pelicans, swans and shoebills could all apply here easily.

For a small scenery pack I’d love to see Madagascar:

- Fossa
- Aye-Aye
- Radiated Tortoise
- Bernier’s Teal
- Greater Vasa Parrot/Lesser-Hedgehog Tenrec (Exhibit)

Scenery could be a great mix of Madagascan foliage and Indian Ocean/Southeast African tropical buildings.
Glad someone else is requesting the inclusion of ducks! :D

IMO, replace the teal with a Coquerel's sifaka and we're golden.

I also want the Sifaka but I feel like two primates (and three rather similarly shaped arboreal mammals) in a four animal pack is unlikely, whereas the duck is a bird and mixes things up + is relatively common in zoos compared to the Sifaka.

but I guess twilight also exists so maybe!

Fan speculation on the next DLC seems to be centering on either islands, rainforest/tropical, or children's/petting zoo. I and most others also anticipate that the next pack will finally give us flying birds via the walkthrough exhibit system, with the most logical candidates being budgies and lorikeets.

tbf islands/rainforest/tropical has probably been the main guess for the last 2-3 DLCs. People will just keep guessing it until it inevitable comes. There’s no real evidence to suggest it’s next bar the fact people want animals that fit with those rather broad themes and so have seemingly come up with the idea they *must* be next because then they can squeeze several of their wishlist species into those concepts. Tree kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, new world monkeys, ocelots, coatis, kiwis, spectacled bears etc.

There’s equally as much evidence to suggest an Ireland pack as there is an Islands pack right now. 0.

And given the last three DLC themes have essentially been extremely broad/vague concepts of: animals considered endangered or critically endangered, Halloweeney/sort of night-time animals and animals that aren’t really found in forests. It could be any massive concept to squeeze whichever species the Devs want in to the game.

Is a siamang really the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks conservation/endangered animals? Are wombats particularly halloweeny animals? Are caracals, striped hyenas and red-neck wallabies really synonymous as grassland species?

All this is true, but there are only a finite number of plausible themes and the previous year of DLC suggests that Frontier is indeed prioritizing the top-requested animals (see the meta-wishlist on the Frontier forums). If the Tasmanian devil (current #1 after the capybara, Amur leopard, Przewalski's horse, and maned wolf were added last year) didn't come in the Australia, Conservation, or Twilight Packs, Islands and Woodlands are the only reasonable avenues for it to arrive.

Anyway, it looks like we're keeping with the pattern of getting a new DLC the week before Easter (April 4th in this case) since the Steam DB recently got updated.

I think the next DLC is more likely to be the flying bird pack, since the last DLC is the species pack, this DLC gonna be a scenery pack with 5 bird species and many new aviary facilities, components and enrichments, as well as some bird-themed sculptures, patterns and decorations. There are plenty of bird species that can be added to PZ, even three or four DLCs that merely for birds are still not enough, how many bird species in the future do you guys think will be reasonable?

We do need a lot of birds... And I feel that something like 1 species of parrot wouldn't be enough. I'd do something like start with a cockatoo and a rarer macaw species (hyacinth, blue-throated...), And then add like two more common macaw species as anniversary animals or something.
I mean... If I made a list, I would like them to add at least:
  • 2-4 Larger parrots
  • 1-3 Swans, ducks or geese
  • 1-2 galliformes (asides from the peafowl)
  • 1-2 Eagles
  • 1-2 vultures
  • 1-2 owls
  • 1 penguin or auk
  • 1 pelican
  • 1 stork
  • 1 other crane
  • 1 toucan
  • 1 hornbills
  • 3-6 passerines and smaller birds (exhibit)
That and the North Island brown kiwi, shoebill and secretary bird, and I'd call it a day.

But I am not that sure about an entirely bird-focused DLC. I think they might be peppered in there with other animals.

Well everyone, it is with great pleasure to inform you all that according to their social media accounts; a special livestream will be on its way tomorrow, on Wednesday, March 22nd, at 5:00PM GMT!
I’ll be over the moon if this is birds, but I’m not counting my chickens (or parrots, or eagles, or hornbills) before they hatch.
Still, this wait was much more manageable than the friggin Twilight Pack…
Now we wait to see what the stream theme is and what ends up getting teased!
