For a spoiler, you first select the body of text you want to hide. Then on the toolbar just above the post you are writing with all the options, select the 'Insert' option, which is just to the left of the little camera icon. There will be a dropdown menu, and the second option down will be 'Spoiler'. You can then enter a title for your spoiler if you wish (not really necessary) and then press continue. Hopefully then when you post the body of text you wanted to hide will be under a spoiler.

As an aside, it might be helpful if you wrote at the end of your post which challenges you have completed, just so it's easier for both you and others to track where you're at :).

What I meant was using *one* spoiler for *all* of the updates in a post, not an individual spoiler for each category. It doesn't really make posts shorter or pages more navigable to use 20 spoilers of one species each... and also it's a lot more work :p

It makes a lot more sense to do it like that (and, incidentally, makes it a lot easier to keep track of what people have seen or claimed to have seen previously) if people include full lists of what has been seen within, not just the most recent updates - which is what I intend on doing with my updates as and when they come. There's a few species/taxa which keep getting slipped into totals despite being ineligible, after all, and it's easier for people to get away with this if one has to trawl through the thread looking for prior updates :p

Pending mental energy, have a few updates to make today by the by :)

As an aside, it might be helpful if you wrote at the end of your post which challenges you have completed, just so it's easier for both you and others to track where you're at :).

Or indeed include a list of how the challenges were completed, per the above.

Or, to save all that fiddling around just write the spoiler boxes before and after the text - i.e. (replacing the word "spoiler" here with the word "cucumber" so the method can be seen without actually creating the spoiler):

[cucumber]write text here[/cucumber]

Time to get this party started, one eventful visit at Chester and a spreadsheet later and I'm ready to enter. ;)

We visited the main area during their normal opening hours (8am-4pm). It is accessible to the general public.

For Thylo's Top 20, think it's only a Corvus species allowed, not just any corvid unfortunately, so don't think the chough is applicable.

That's unfortunate, and kind of a shame considering choughs are cool, but if that's the case, I'll remove it and try again elsewhere.

With that in mind...

Attendees were allowed to stay after hours and still see animals, but I will only count confirmed sightings before 5:00 p.m. CST when the zoo typically closes to visitors.

Return visit to Rosamond Gifford Zoo yielded me a few more species (including a few birds I was surprised to see):
Let That Ruminate (3/11 plus 8 bovids):
3. Red River Hog- Potamochoerus porcus

Thylo's Top 20 (6/8):
5. Venezuelan Troupial- Icterus icterus
6. Taveta Golden Weaver- Ploceus castaneiceps (turns out they do still have two weavers after all!)

Don't You Forget About Me (5/13):
5. Hoffmann's Two-toed Sloth- Choelopus hoffmanni

Don't Turn On The Lights (9/10):
8. Hoffmann's Two-toed Sloth- Choelopus hoffmanni
9. Yellow Banded Pipefish- Dunckerocamphis pessuliferus
(Now I just need one of Rosamond Gifford's three frequent no-shows to appear on my next trip, the armadillo which I've seen once, or the kiwi/tamandua which I've never seen).

Embrace the ABC's (8/36):
Tiger: Rosamond Gifford (second tiger)

Challenges completed remains 4/29.
Finally warm enough at the Buffalo Zoo to see some large mammals outside:

Let That Ruminate (4/11 plus 8 bovids):
4. Giraffe- Giraffe camelopardis

How Many Toes Am I Holding Up? (3/9):
3. Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros- Rhinoceros unicornis

Usborne's Scavenger Hunt Challenge (7/15):
7. Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros- Rhinoceros unicornis

Challenges completed remains 4/29.

I put all of these in my spreadsheet at the same time, so it’s easier for me to go through the challenges once and list the facility after each species. I’ll use abbreviations.

I should be within just a few hours drive of completing all of the challenges except "The Unbearable Challenge"! :) Going into the year, I figured that would be the one challenge I would likely not complete just due to the shortage of/location of Asiatic black bears and giant pandas in North America.

It was a beautiful day in Escondido today! The bovids showed out; however, unfortunately, the sand cats were off-exhibit for maintenance and the park has gone out of Bennett's wallabies or I would have ticked off a couple more boxes and a couple more challenges!
