A New Mexico state senator and some environmental groups are asking Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to sign a bill that would change to the New Mexico State Commission.

The governor has until Friday to sign bills passed by the 2023 New Mexico Legislature. Unsigned legislation is considered a pocket veto.

State Sen. Crystal Diamond (R-35) and members of the WildEarth Guardians, Defenders of Wildlife, Sierra Club and the Wildlands Network suggested the governor to sign House Bill (HB) 184 “State Game Commission Changes” before Friday’s deadline.

Finally, some potential progress is being made in bringing needed change in wildlife management. Maybe this will be the spark that starts the fire. And I find it interesting that even the hunting industry supports this, quite a big slap in the face to the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.

She probably already wouldn't listen to a constituent, much less to someone out of state.

@birdsandbats I understand you feeling like it would be essentially screaming at the wind, but we have to at least try... As American lawyer and former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Louis Dembitz Brandeis said;

"The most worthwhile things in life always seemed impossible at the time."

American historian, university professor and scholar, Allan Lichtman added,

"Even if something is very difficult, we can strive for it. And the very striving for it will give new momentum and new purpose to your goals, ideas, ambitions, aspirations, etc. Often the game needs to be changed. The current path is the path to defeat. Whenever you play not to lose, you are guaranteed to lose."

So for anyone on here who wants to, let's give it a try!

Though she has enacted some good policies including signing on to the 30x30 land and water protection pact, I'll be honest and say that I can see why Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has had a relatively low approval rating in her state.
