I think they may try to incorporate both names myself, and therefore I am expecting it to be Bristol Wildlife Park.

Interesting. Not a very inspiring name. More uninspired as not received the members email yet despite being a member!
It’s on Bristol live website, I suspect it’s the same as wildplace project that people will just shorten it and then eventually when the site has been sold and everything has settled down they’ll remove the project part

The 'project' bit of the name is still there for same reason it always was - they want to make it clear that what you see now isn't the finished product so people don't go away with the idea that the current setup is all there will ever be there. I have no doubt it will disappear at some point; possibly when the gorilla/small animal houses open - if it doesn't end up within 2-5 years as either simply Bristol Zoo or Bristol Zoo Park (which maintains the initialism, and is consistent with the old site being Bristol Zoo Gardens) I'll be very surprised.

Has a really fun half day at the Bristol Zoo project / wild place project today. Went on to Noah’s Ark afterwards to see the bits of that zoo I missed on my first visit.

Weather was lovely all day. Wasn’t too crowded when I arrived for opening time and it didn’t seem too rammed though the car park was full later.

Nice to pay a second visit as easier to find everything. It does have a very positive atmosphere.

The young wolverines are just lovely - they were in a wood pile pretty near the walkway and came out for a wander about with their mother who was also active and spending time with the wolverine on the other side of the fence who I assumed was the male. I’ve not seen a litter of wolverines before, just single youngsters, so very nice to see.

The wolves and bears were being fed first thing so were very showy with chasing and playing going on around the water between the bears and then between the bears and wolves.

Saw most things though the giraffes were inside. The cheetahs were active in their enclosure - it’s a good space.

Must of missed this thread, I only found out today they are renaming it to Bristol Zoo Project, there is a good article on their website about it stating that they asked employees, volunteers visitors etc.

Does anyone know what the other options were?

As someone mentioned, I do hope it will be simply called 'Bristol Zoo' or even 'Bristol Zoo Park' in due course - While I understand why they are calling in Bristol Zoo Project, I think it sounds a bit too American for me.

Visited wildplace today 18/05/23

a few things to note

there is apparently filming going on around the site however I don’t know why

there is a van by the old wolf enclosure and work going on in the old wolf house

the mongoose lemurs are back in the walkthrough after a long time of not being in it, also overheard a keeper saying the blue eyed black lemurs may need their own enclosure but they may be fine in the main walkthrough if they did have their own enclosure I don’t know where it would be

the art for the spring fest is starting to go up in tower meadow as well

overall a lovely visit

Visited today

Main thing to note is that the old wolf enclosure looks almost done for its residents, the house looks basically complete and all the unsuitable fencing has been Replaced pretty much

fingers crossed the animals move in soon
Has it been mentioned what the species will be?
