Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Cleveland Metroparks Zoo News, 2023

Notes on 3/22/23-

- Scarlet Macaw from The RainForest's aviary is now living in the Primate, Cat, and Aquatics Building.
- It had spent a while living in the Prevost Squirrel exhibit
- The zoo no longer has a Fishing Cat
-
Sign in the exhibit says they're preparing it for a new arrival. No word on what that is.
- Sloth and American Black Bears were off exhibit.
- Colobus Monkeys were nowhere to be seen.
- Dwarf Crocodile exhibit has been uncovered but the croc itself was still off-exhibit.
- A new banner has been added to the food court redevelopment (which I forgot to take a picture of) that says the food court will reopen in Summer 2023.

Did the fishing cat die, or are they no longer keeping the species?

Also, does anyone know if the zoo still has three Amur Tigers? In August when I went there were three but every other time there have only been two.

I believe they were off exhibit for a while

Oh, wow! I guess I thought the Wolf's guenons left years ago. On CMZ's animal list (which has several errors- for example, still listing lorikeets instead of budgerigars and onagers instead of bison) they are listed as "Animals Formerly At Zoo." And you are definitely talking about Wolf's guenons instead of mangabeys? I'm not doubting you, I just thought I would have heard if they were back at CMZ.

Last wolf's guenons should have left Cleveland in 2015. That's not to say they couldn't have returned, but I would be surprised (in a good way) if they did. I'm going to take @Baryonyx's word for it though since Wolf's Guenons are a fairly unmistakable primate species that's fairly difficult to misidentify.

I was mistaking the Colobus Monkeys for Wolf's Guenons. The Colobus have been no-shows every time I've gone to the zoo, and Wolfs did indeed leave a handful of years back. The Yellow Belly Mangabeys and Swamp Monkey (which are all yellow/tan, like the Wolfs G) were in those first exhibits by the PCA lobby so I'm guessing it was a case of mistaken identity. Will still check on Wednesday

Just left the zoo. Here's what I saw.
- Wolf's Guenon have returned to the zoo - The zoo no longer has Colobus Monkeys
- There is only one Meerkat left in African Elephant Crossing. The others have passed on
- Black and Sloth Bears no show
- Fishing Cat exhibit still empty
- Australia exhibits will likely remain closed for the season again from an employee

Will the zoo get new meerkats?
