Doesn’t the zoo still have fennec foxes in the Small Mammal House? For me I'll say species for the zoos I've commonly been to:
Milwaukee - A canid of some type, ever since the wolves left, there hasn't been another canid in the park, I'd personally say either Manned Wolf since there isn't one I know of in the area or African Wild Dog since they're a pretty interesting species to see
Racine - Birds, I'm surprised how few birds are at this zoo compared to most of the others I visit, could really see them along with other species brought into a few of the empty areas of the zoo
Brookfield - Probably the hardest one for me to say an animal for here, since it's a pretty solid list that's going to likely improve more with the upcoming bird additions, but I'd say Kiwi would probably be one of the best species I could see being included
Lincoln Park - I'll just go the same way as others with this place since it makes sense, Antelope, preferably one that'd fit in the area with the Giraffes
As far as I know they doDoesn’t the zoo still have fennec foxes in the Small Mammal House?
Yeah, just remembered that after you mentioned it, but in the end my point on it still stands mainly since I was thinking more along the lines of the larger onesDoesn’t the zoo still have fennec foxes in the Small Mammal House?
Really? When was this?Did you know Akron used to have sloth bears?
I love Indian Gaur! It's a shame that the only place to see them in the U.S. is the Bronx Zoo, hope I can go one day being that I live in California. Hopefully one day other zoos get Gaurs!Cincinnati: Gaur
Cincinnati is already going to make a new home for their elephants and I think it would be neat to add in other Indian animals in the area as well, of course it is unlikely there would be extra room left after making habitats for the elephants along with the monkey island and caprid exhibit but I think these mixed with some other Indian ungulates would be a nice addition. Gaur are also quite rare in the U.S so the addition of gaur would be a nice animal to add to the zoo.
Gaur are also present at Gladys Porter, Miami, and Lee Simmons plus a couple private facilities afaik. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like any other zoos will be getting into the gaur program but Bronx has tons of them and is continuing to breed so if by some miracle, anyone decides to do so in the future, they should be able to get some.I love Indian Gaur!
