I was recently doing a sort of art project thing from A to Z, where I had the idea for each letter drawing a primate for that specific letter. So far, A and B are finished - with an Aye-Aye and Bonobo respectively.
I have since made a list of potential primates I could draw for the remaining 24 or so letters, though for one letter I have come up a bit short ...
C: Chimpanzee, Celebes' Macaque, Crowned Lemur, Crowned Sifaka
D: Dusky Leaf Monkey, Drill, Djam-Djam
E: Emperor Tamarin
F: Francois' Langur
G: Gelada, Geoldi's Monkey, Golden Lion Tamarin, Gorilla, Geoffroy's Tamarin, Goldenpalace.com Monkey[!]
H: Hanuman Langur, Hamlyn's Monkey, Hamadryas Baboon, Human
I: Indri, Illiger's Tamarin
J: Japanese Macaque, Jolly's Mouse Lemur
K: Kaapori Capuchin, King Colobus
L: L'Hoest's Monkey, Lion-Tailed Macaque, Lar Gibbon
M: Mandrill, Midas' Tamarin, Mantled Colobus
N: Niligri Langur, Night Monkey, Northern White-Cheeked Gibbon
O: Orangutan, Olive Baboon
P: Patas Monkey, Proboscis Monkey, Pileated Gibbon, Pygmy Marmoset
R: Red Howler Monkey, Ring-Tailed Lemur, Red-Ruffed Lemur, Red-headed Titi, Red-bellied Lemur, Red-fronted Lemur, Red-tailed Sportive Lemur, Rufous Mouse Lemur ...
S: Spider Monkey, Squirrel Monkey, Siamang, Silvery Marmoset
T: Tarsier, Tufted Capuchin
U: Uakari, Urubamba Brown Titi, Ursine Howler Monkey
V: Vervet Monkey, Viera's Titi
W: Wolf's Guneon, White-fronted Lemur
X: Xanthonycticebus [Pygmy Slow Loris]
Y: Yellow-Cheeked Gibbon
Z: Zanzibar Galago, Zaza [The native name for the Lesser Giant Mouse Lemur]
[come to think of it, I imagine I could do a fair bit of the alphabet with just mouse lemurs!]
In that I was unable to find an extant primate which had a name that began with the letter 'Q' to use. It would seem that no primates have a common name that begins with Q, none of them are even named after Queens or similar. So I had a few ideas, perhaps to use 'eQuatorial Saki' in place of Q .. or maybe pull a wise crack and draw a Queen on the page, showing that she is a primate too. Or maybe try to draw a Qatriana, which, even though it's an extinct primate known only from a small amount of remains, begins with a Q.
I was hoping you could point me in some direction with this?
