Thank you very much for posting them for me TeaLovingDave.
Hopefully the articles are legible. Looks like cranes escaped as well as porcupines!
I still need to find my dad’s pbotos.

The articles are indeed legible, thanks :) it looks like the Cage & Aviary Birds article was part 2 of a series, interestingly enough! One wonders if any copies of the previous issue have survived somewhere....

Sadly part 1 was not in my dad’s “Memories of PV” file.

Fortunately we now have a particular issue to aim for, so if we have any other members who are longtime subscribers to the publication that may give us a place to start looking :)

I’ve been in touch with the Cage and Aviary birds magazine and unfortunately they don’t have a digital archive bug they do have an actual archive in Yalding in Kent. I have family in Medway, so will hopefully get the chance to look for the first article at some point.

I went exploring here once- just to find the site really as I knew it had closed by then. I had heard about the infamous feral porcupine population. It was indeed in a 'pine valley' (Spruce I think it is so rather a dark surround) down side roads a mile or two North of Okehampton. But I didn't explore any further.

I’d love to go back - glad there was a map on one of the leaflets! When did you go?

As Cage & Aviary is a "legit" publication they should have lodged a copy of each issue with the receiving library, which in your case I presume is the British Library. In case anybody has the time...

Could you send me some copies of bits my nan jean is 92 and would love to see some bits please .

I uploaded the items which Clare sent to me to the forum gallery, and you can see them within this thread :) it should be fairly easy for you to download the images and print them out for your Nan.

The archive wasn’t open but they are going to look for Part 1 of the article next week!
Do you know what happened to the best?

Bear not best. I couldn’t remember her name, so it’s good to know it was Mimi.

I have just remembered being chased by a goose, so I guess we had geese too!
