Zoochat Challenge North America 2023

Time for our first score updates! If your score is incorrect or you have updates you haven't posted yet, now is a good opportunity to let me know.

Primates (12 participants)

Lizards (9 participants)

A reminder that we have two deadlines coming up in a couple weeks:

- If you want to switch challenges and count all eligible species you've seen so far this year, the deadline to do so is April 30.
- If you haven't joined yet and want to, the deadline to count all eligible species you've seen so far this year is also April 30.

Starting May 1, you are still allowed to join or switch challenges - but you will only be able to count eligible species from your two most recent visits. I also forgot to clarify something important in the OP: by "visit" I mean to a facility that has eligible species for you to count. So if you recently visited an aquarium with just fish, I don't care about that; I'm considering your two most recent visits to be facilities that have either primates or lizards, depending on which challenge you're doing.

Don't forget that you can only switch once - so if you're on the fence, give it a good think before deciding. On the other hand: if you're like me (I haven't seen any primates yet ) and switching after the deadline won't affect you, it's okay to hold off.

Since Vervet complex is going to be counted as just a single species, what about the Brown Lemur complex? I saw a Collared Brown and regular Brown Lemur and am counting both but if its determined to count all as a single species reduce my number by 1.

Bronx Zoo (5/1/23)

48. Collared Brown Lemur (Eulemur collaris)

Mandrills and Mouse Lemur were unfortunately no-shows.

AFAIK those are two distinct zoo populations, with little to no confusion about which species individuals belong to - so unless someone can tell me otherwise, I see no reason to combine them.
