After the hospital. I have heard maybe 2028 for Africa’s completion. I am just happy the hospital is going in current back area and not prime unused space. I have wondered if Africa II could open in phases depending on what all they add.

Spent a few hours today at Akron. Here's what I saw new:
  1. A Tomato Frog now lives in Komodo Kingdom, in the exhibit formerly occupied byDominic the Mountain Chicken Frog.
  2. The new bird exhibit behind Wild Asia seems to have been completed. There was an inhabitant but I forgot to write down or take a picture of what it was.
  3. A new display has gone up in Komodo Kingdom called "A Walk in the Park" and it's a timeline of the zoo's history.
  4. The Red Wolves should be leaving either before or in June.
  5. There is no plan to bring in a 2nd Komodo Dragon to replace Draco.

That new habitat is part of Zoo Gardens. The tragopans are relocating there. Wild Prairie is considered part of the Zoo Gardens on the zoo’s website now.

The new bird habitat in Wild Asia will like be attached to the restrooms near the upper entrance to Wild Asia. The zoo has told me they do not have news yet on when that will start construction.

Ah ok. I assumed this was the new one given I don't remember seeing it back in 2022.

I this habitat is on Garden View Place. I think it was to have something for the public to see since it is primarily behind the scenes. GVP was just finished this spring.

Has there been any changes to the former capybara habitat?
Nothing in the actual exhibit, except for removing everything used by the Capybara. The "What's Coming Soon?" stickers are still there. I took pictures of them and will upload them in a bit.

I see they filled the pool in.

If the pool is gone, I guess that rules out walrus as an option :p

I don’t think a walrus could even fit in that habitat very well. Not enough room for pronghorn. I believe Patagonian mara is the new species. It fits geographically. It is an appropriate replacement. One large rodent for another. At least they have filled the pool in in a way it could be used in the future if they wanted to.
