What spaces are closed in Ueno, Inokahira and Tama? Are there rare species that are not visible? For example, the Ueno woodpecker. I'll be here in one month exactly...
The great slaty woodpecker died a while back if I remember correctly.

So he's still alive! Great news. Is he exposed to the public? My friend just saw him on Monday the 17th.
We will let you know when the great slaty woodpecker exhibit reopens.
(News)Perfect, We'll visit Ueno at the end of May, very close to June.
Could you ask your friend how he got in contact with the zoo? I can't find any email...My friend had arranged a tour for months in advance and was networking with zoo administrative staff, so it seems like he only got to see that building because he asked for permission.
Great news, some of the species we most want to see live there. Thank you all very much for your help and information.(News)
The Bird House will be open to the public on April 25th.
Cant agree more with this statement! The country is fantastic, the gastronomy fabulous and the animal parks, in general, very interesting.
Hello everyone, I want to inform you that a couple of weeks ago we returned from our Japanese trip. Everything was fantastic, both the country and the animal parks we visited. Perhaps the only negative element is that when we went to Aquamarine Fukushima we couldn't see the striped seal, which was kept indoors. The rest were pretty much all wins. Perhaps it left a bittersweet taste in our mouths not being able to take good photos of the moles in Tama Zoo, because they moved a lot, but we were able to observe them and record videos.
In short, it's a trip that I recommend to all zoochatters. The country is fantastic, the gastronomy fabulous and the animal parks, in general, very interesting.
The seal is not in public exhibit. You didn't see the interior of Aquamarine Fukushima?
The seal is not in public exhibit.
Yes, the seal was not visible in the moment of our visible by the high temperature. They don’t have a refrigerated public exhibit for him, so he gets taken off show in late spring when water temperatures exceed a certain value and put back on show in the fall.
So he's still alive! Great news. Is he exposed to the public?
I know, we were able to see it without a problem on our trip a month agoI just visited yesterday and he was in the Bird House, on the first floor. It appears to have a broken wing.
No, everything seemed ok.I didn’t notice anything wrong with his wing last November. @aramacao did you see anything?
