Capron Park Zoo has an indoor visible exhibit area as well.
I do not remember swans ever being mixed with the flamingos, though wigeon rings a bell.
The birds that escaped were all military macaws. I forgot that military macaws are on loan, but I guess I need to spend some more time going over the subtle differences between the two species.Three macaws flew to Cranston. It looks like one of them was a great green macaw. They have been recovered, fortunately. Though there are great green macaws belonging to the zoo, I'm thinking these animals are from the bird show, which, from my understanding, is mostly or entirely comprised of birds on loan.

Seeing that this is your first post here I’d like to first say welcome to ZooChat.It says on the map of roger Williams zoo that they have gotten A kirks dik dik and a Bat eared fox added to the African crane exhibit? It also says they have a new hornbill aviary added right on the other side of the zebra wildebeest exhibit. The last time I have gone was in March and I remember a ton of construction being done because of the new loop around the zebra and wildebeest habitat, but I couldn’t really see any hornbill habitat being done. Neither with the bat eared fox and kirks dik dik.
ThankyouSeeing that this is your first post here I’d like to first say welcome to ZooChat.
The changes on the map was already brought up on the third page of this thread. The zoo itself hasn’t even made an official announcement of the fox and dikdik or an estimated time of completion of their enclosures.
If I'm not mistaken, the two bird enclosures, in addition to the home for servals and whatever is going on with the cranes, dik-diks, and foxes, will all be finished in the summer of this year.Thankyoumy estimate is the hornbill & aviary will be introduced to the public by this summer. (I don’t quite know about the bat eared fox and kirks dik dik yet)
They have been sexed as a male and a female and are doing well after their first veterinary check-up.Two red wolf pups have been born:
2 Critically-Endangered Red Wolf Pups Born At Roger Williams Park Zoo
Born on April 29th, the pups are the offspring of 8-year-old Brave and 7-year-old Diego.
George was always the one more likely to leave that back corner. You're absolutely correct there was normally a bear in that back corner, but it was normally Gracie. I also though concur that he's been spending more time than usual in the lower part of the exhibit over my visits to that part of the zoo recently.I’ve been visiting a lot the past month and I’ve been seeing George the moon bear right up at the glass on the lower level of the exhibit, he sits on the rock and shows off for the viewers! That’s good because he used to just sit in that corner of the exhibit. I’m going again tomorrow so hopefully I can get a nice picture![]()
The smiley faces I hope made it very understandableJuly 2023 news!
the Bat eared fox and Kirks dik dik were both out today, They have one of each species they both are one years old, the cranes are off exhibit until the new animals get to adapt with the environment together! The fox has been in the exhibit for a week and just today the kirks dik dik is out (the fox looked annoyed, but I can’t wait to see the cranes face lol)
the Hornbill and aviary construction is under way! It is the first exhibit you will see, I don’t really remember what the birds were but I know there was types of hornbills and birds
The red panda habitat is completely destroyed! They are making a whole different exhibit for them witch might be nice. Some people really loved their exhibit some didn’t.. the exhibit will be done by 2024 spring? R.I.P Rusty
the old seal exhibit soon to be penguin exhibit construction has not started but they have put up a few signs of when the penguins and habitat will be here Summer 2024! And I’m pretty sure it will be African penguins
The red wolf pups are So adorable! They are in exhibit so you can see them. The first viewing area they have a Quiet zone so you cannot go close to the fence to see them for now. Although there is a lower viewing where you can still see them(same thing with the flamingo habitat, You cannot go right up to the viewing because it is breeding season for the flamingos but we will hopefully be seeing some baby’s then
)
that is pretty much all I saw stand out to me! I hope you visit it is super lush and pretty and I hope this was helpful![]()
