I meant Sugar was Lynx rufus fasciatus under the new taxonomy, I have no clue what subspecies she’d fall into under the older taxonomy.

I guess we're missing another species now, with the recent description of the Nariño Cat.
Given the fact it seems fairly likely to be extinct, not so much.
I prefer to look at it from a different angle -Taxonomists play havoc with people's life lists.
If one so happened to see more than one [sub]species at the time, and these were later deemed as different species - then it is surely an addition to the life list!
I recall I found it curious how both subspecies at aardwolf at Hamerton had separate enclosures - though of course at the times I visited Hamerton the aardwolf was only thought of as one species. However, some scientists now believe that there are two distinct species of aardwolf - so my slightly tangible 'life-list' is all the greater for it!

I think the only reason he hasn't added one in is because he's too torn between using a photo of a live animal or one of my taxidermy photos.
