A different alphabet game

I recall this was a game I used to play often. Basically what it is, the first person in the game gets to choose an animal whose name begins with the letter A. But they cannot name the animal itself, only describe the animal's characteristics. If another player guesses the animal in question correctly, then they are able to do the same for the letter B. The game thereon continues up until Z. Or maybe here it may restart after A?...

So I guess I will start.

The animal in question of mine is found in South America. It is a bird, and has a wide wingspan. Typically it lays only 2 eggs at a time at very high altitudes.
Can any of you guess the animal I have in mind?

I suppose this means it is my turn. Here are the clues:

- It is a mammal.
- It begins with B.
- It is found in Asia.
- It is the only species in their genus.
- It is arboreal
- It has many subspecies, the largest of which is from Cambodia.

Beginning with B ?

My clues
- It begins with C
- Species include bear, spotted, and ground
- It occurs in eastern Indonesia, New Guinea, and parts of Australia
- Its tautological name sounds somewhat like a wheat grain

It is a mammal
It may be a species or a form of another species
It may be feral or wild
It was thought to be harmless to people but isn't

Well, that's certainly not what I thought he'd put .. but still somewhat obvious anyhoo..

That's right, WalkingAgnatha

Prochilodus246 was very close with dog. I was intrigued by dillotest0's degu, although perhaps degus spread diseases to people, although I couldn't find corroborating information via Google.

It's your go, WalkingAgnatha
