Yorkshire Wildlife Park Yorkshire Wildlife Park News 2023

There are 3 enclosures for cheetah. 2 for female and a larger one for males according to the planning application. Also the park have resubmitted an application for the gorilla enclosure. The house looks slightly scaled down but the outdoor areas are much larger encompassing what was for Pygmy hippo and Bongo.

Could you please attach a link to the planning application for both exhibits. Thank you.

Edit: I’ve found the planning applications for both exhibits. Here they are for anyone interested.

Cheetah: 23/01322/FUL | Erection of two animal houses & enclosures | Yorkshire Wildlife Park Brockholes Lane Branton Doncaster DN3 3NH

Gorilla: 23/01229/FULM | Creation of new animal house and enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park (to be referred to as the 'Golf' reserve) (re-submission of 21/02108/REMM) | Yorkshire Wildlife Park Brockholes Lane Branton Doncaster DN3 3NH

Really intrigued where YWP go with these new proposed habitats for Cheetah and "GOLF" as doesn't seem too long ago the message was that no new habitats/attarctions were imminent until cash flow had improved (Could be wrong but sure I read that somewhere). Also where future habitats could spring up as judging by the park map and the locations of the proposed new habitats, they are running out of locations unless they expand the park further in size

They have an area to the right of the maned wolves and the huge area where the gorrilas are planned to be.
Edit: To the right of the maned wolves, i would like to see maybe a costal area, with penguins, aquatic birds, would be great.

Yeah to the right of the maned wolves seems the last area where they could potentially plan a habitat with the GOLF habitat taking up such a large area near the Hyenas I believe. Would love something else big and bold for a habitat

I emailed ywp, and they confirmed to me they currently have 1 titi monkey in quarantine.
YWP have just put on Facebook a sound for guess the new arrival could be these but I’m not sure definitely doesn’t sound like cheetahs do me

Bristol Zoo Project have announced Brooke, a male cheetah, is moving to YWP.
Exciting Times Ahead. Does anyone one know if he’s a breeding male, because looking at the plans it doesn’t not look like a breeding facility, with 2 habitats for females and 1 large one for males.

From BZP Member Email:

Brooke will join female cheetahs at Yorkshire Wildlife Park where the hope is that he will also breed to safeguard the future of Northern cheetahs.

Northern cheetahs are the most threatened of Africa's big cats, with less than 500 remaining in the wild.

Have they arrived then.If so, anyone know how many
Apparently so, this was sent on Friday:

"Our delightful Cheetahs have just arrived and are settling into their new reserve.
In the interests of their welfare, their behaviour will be carefully monitored with our rangers and our vet team, on the run up to the event. If they are not sufficiently settled and become disturbed, we reserve the right to cancel, suspend or postpone the event. Your understanding is much appreciated in helping us allow these wonderful animals a calm and safe welcome."

No idea how many though.
