Greensboro Science Center Greensboro Science Center: News & Expansion Updates

Piece of 2023 News Not Mentioned:

On July 8th, it was announced that the zoo acquired a (1.0) red-ruffed lemur named Jude from the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington D.C.

Good luck, Jude! Jude, our beloved red ruffed lemur, is embarking on a new adventure at the Greensboro Science Center, where he will be a companion to their female red ruffed lemur. While we will undoubtedly miss Jude's charismatic and curious personality, we are excited for what lies ahead for him in North Carolina. During Jude’s farewell party, keepers hid corn and dried coconut in paper flowers for him to find as an enrichment activity. These activities involve items that keep the lemurs' minds and bodies active, while encouraging natural behaviors. On August 22nd, the zoo announced that they acquired a (0.1) Linne's two-toed sloth named Indie which is now on exhibit in the Amazon exhibit of the Wiseman Aquarium building. The sloth is one of the first animals to arrive at the zoo before the completion of the Greensboro Biodome and will reside in said biodome when it's completed.

We are so excited to introduce... - Greensboro Science Center
Introducing the Star of The Greensboro Biodome: Indie the Linnaeus’s Two-Toed Sloth

They also released new plans for the Biodome!
Dropbox - Expedition Rainforest - The Greensboro Biodome Renderings - Simplify your life
Animals such as:
- Electric Eels
- Grand Cayman Blue Iguana
- Coquerel's Sifaka
- Chinese Alligator
- Hammerkop
Have been added to the plans!

A lot of interesting stuff on the plans.

Clouded Leopards are featured as well; this would give GSC quite the small cat collection. Also, the sloths and leopards can travel in overhead paths.

I also noticed that a few of the potential residents featured are already present in the Aquarium's Amazon Rising tank (the Tamarins, Titis, Freshwater Rays, etc.), so I wonder what will happen to that exhibit once the Rainforest biodome is complete (I really hope they avoid redundancy).

I'm personally hoping (canopy wise) for either Tamadua or Kinkajou
I don't know what they could bring in to replace the stingrays though.

- Fossa "Rano" will be leaving soon to Houston Zoo and a male from SDZ will come to the center
- Red Panda "Ravi" is leaving next week to Red River Zoo
- The is new signage for a few of the exhibit in Animal Discovery
- Several giant Jellyfish art pieces have been installed in the aquarium

Do you have any idea or information on either individual of the breeding pair?
M Lionel ..//../.... (DoB) SIRE x DAM // LOCATION OF BIRTH.

Are they still reproducing (able to reproduce) or have entered reproductive senescence?
