Central Coast Zoo Central Coast Zoo

@WhistlingKite24

Nice, thanks for sharing. Always cool to hear about rarer species being newcomers to the zoos/wps. Especially a stunningly beautiful and critically endangered one like Red-fronted Macaws, thats brilliant/

Hey is the CCZ part of the site still only open to private bookings currently?

Yes, opening had been delayed according to their website. The latest estimate was six months from February 2023 (August 2023), which followed initial hopes to open in December 2022.

This was preceded by this update in January 2023:

We have some meetings this week to hopefully get some plans together on when we can open the Zoo section for general admission, we will keep you all updated.

In the meantime, you can still book a private encounter via the Amazement Farm & Fun Park website. You can still also see a bunch of cool animals along the train route when you visit Amazement Farm & Fun Park - African Lions, Camels, Tortoises, Ostrich, Deer, Antelope, Waterfowl and the new Capybaras!!!

@Zoofan15

Oh right thanks bro.

The umpteenth time they've pushed back officially opening lol

Seems quite typical amongst the smaller zoos, with Kamo Wildlife Park similarly facing endless hurdles to reopen (which they eventually did in December 2021), only to close again this week.

D'Aguilar Wildlife also commented on their socials last year they have no idea when they’ll be allowed by the State Government to open to the public.

When oh when will this zoo officially open??

Good question. The opened for private encounters in May this year, but when asked on socials last week if they’ll ever open (to the general public), their reply was, “We hope so…”

Central Coast Zoo is Now Open!

It might be a small zoo, but it’s impressive they house a pride of six lions when every main zoo in the region (bar Taronga) holds only two or three lions.

Has anyone actually visited this zoo and can comment on its facilities?
Their social media page states they hope to open late this year or early next year!
So they might be open by 2026 then!

I found one source from 2022 saying they hoped to open in December 2022, which was then revised to August 2023. At least their collection continues to grow. I had a look online and on their socials, but there’s very few photos or videos of their exhibits beyond lions and meerkats, which is a shame.

@PaddyRickMFZ

Would be late 2026 or possibly early 2027 given delays

I think @PaddyRickMFZ was joking by saying, let’s add on another three years to what Central Coast Zoo are estimating (late 2023/early 2024). Joke or not, three years might not be unrealistic if other small zoos/wildlife parks in the region are anything to go by. Zion/Kamo took years to open (and then closed again soon after).

With the way central coast council works, I would be surprised if it is taking to much time and to much money for what could be a nice local attraction.
Once its opened as a zoo ill pop over and have a look, its about 15 mins away.
