Hey all! Been lurking here for a while but I think this would be a great post to start actually doing a little more real talking. I grew up in Washington D.C and with the National Zoo. I know the place like the back of my hand, but perhaps the oddest thing I’ve seen related to the Zoo itself is outside its fences. On Adams Road just outside of the Zoo, there’s a small cage for some kind of bird? With a plaque smack dab in the middle. It struck me as odd that the zoo would put something so far outside. What was it for? When were there animals inside? If anyone knows please do tell! It’s been something I’ve always tried finding an answer for but I’ve always come up empty handed.
Edit: Adam’s MILL road… cant believe I forgot that since I drove by almost every day!
