I will be going to Denver zoo for the first time however I will be on a time crunch (1 and a half- 2 hours) What would be the best exhibits to see and the best to skip?
Thanks for the tips! Elephant Passage was really great and my favorite area. The habitat for the Elephants was the best I’ve ever seen and the Asian Small-clawed Otter pups were adorable. The Primate area was definitely also really great and was the best Primate focused area I’ve seen. There were also a bunch of hoofstock rarities some of which I’ve ether never seen before or have only seen once such as Addax, African Buffalo, and Gerenuk. I unfortunately was running low on time after I spent a lil too much time in Elephant Passage and had to rush through Tropical Discovery and mostly skip Predator RidgePredator Ridge and Elephant Passage are the most famous exhibits, but Tropical Discovery and Primate Panorama are wonderful as well. Even the hoofstock yards, while old, have a lot of interesting species, especially at a time when most zoos are downsizing their hoofstock collections.
The main skippable areas are the Pachyderm House, Stingray Cove, the Edge, Harmony Hill, "Birds", and Sheep Mountain, but these areas also take much less time to see than Denver's best sections do. This is a zoo with many really great exhibits, so unfortunately you will probably have to miss some of the highlights if you want to limit your trip to 2 hours.
I pity your time crunch! Predator Ridge is right in the entrance so you can do that no matter what. I would recommend taking the path west and then passing the Pachyderm House to the north side of the zoo and going to Elephant Passage. You can take the same route directly to the exit, or if you have free time, you can pass by the former bird area to the west and go through Primate Panorama, the zoo's other major highlight, and you'll still have a shot at seeing African buffalo and the caprid mountains on your way out.I will be going to Denver zoo for the first time however I will be on a time crunch (1 and a half- 2 hours) What would be the best exhibits to see and the best to skip?
