Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

Pretty good pack in my opinion, Tassie and kiwi are well known and quite popular. Little Blue Penguin is a nice surprise as well. Two birds in one pack, Frontier actually can make more than one a blue moon.
Quokka is using its cute street credit here, that slot should have gone to one of the tree roos, and I'll stick by that.
Spectacled Flying Fox is a bit mixed - I like flying foxes but the species chosen is virtually unknown outside Australia in zoos, particularly with the passing of the last one in NA not long ago. Rodrigues, Indian, or Large would have been more preferable. Being the species it is, I was much less pleased when I realized it took the exhibit slot, pushing out the potential for Tuatara, Frilled Lizard, Bearded Dragon, Taipan, Carpet Python, etc...

Of course, this does beg the question - which kiwi is it? At a glance, it looks like it should be one of the brown kiwis, at the very least.

It's Northern Brown.

The species list gets provided alongside announcement release so we know the species instantly.

Weirdly some of the articles posted this time just say 'kiwi' (ISTR the same thing happened with the capuchin back in the day) but the post on the official forums at least confirms they are indeed North Island Brown Kiwi: Planet Zoo: Oceania Pack arriving 19 Sep | Frontier Forums :)

In other words, no sloth situation here - they've gone with the most-widely kept species in both NZ and the rest of the world. :)

Bubble domes are exciting but I'm interested to see how it'll cooperate with pathing. Upcoming support for a more aquarium-style pack, perhaps? Bit of a weird choice to model them in a lemur habitat (I'd think them more suitable for a less arboreal critter) but that's me being nitpicky.

I love the kiwis. So teeny! So round! Just adorable. I quite like the decor too.

I fall in and out of my Planet Zoo fixation. It's been a while, but I think i'll have to reinstall tonight... maybe treat myself to a DLC.

I believe they're teleporters. So essentially you add the 'door' to the habitat like you would a zookeeper gate or guest gate for walkthrough habitats and then place tunnels inside. When guests go into the door they teleport into the bubble.

Better than having to wrangle with more paths, though I do wish it were a bit more... realistic I guess? I'm being too picky here I think lol. It'll be a fun thing to build into habitats nonetheless

Agreed, though I think it's probably the best implementation of them we could expect. As little jankiness as possible and tbh, all you're missing out on is building some awkward underground tunnel.

While I am aware of how we just received the launch of the Oceania Pack. I am already curious as to what kind of animal you hope will be included for the game’s fourth anniversary update? I personally think that we would probably get either a new species (like a Greater Rhea, for example) or perhaps, an official remaster of the West African Lion.

I think only remaster wouldn't be taken well by the community, defo new species but as with previous anniversaries, something closely related to already existing species, so they can just reskin the rig.

Rhea is a good shout, I'd quite like to see blackbuck as well! Maybe since the red deer gave the base game a deer maybe we could get something like an aoudad to give base game a caprine.

Took me quite the number of hours, but at this point in time I have an every species and highly detailed zoo up to date through the new Oceania pack. Been in process for a couple years now, this is the third fourth detailed zoo I've done since launch, but the only one I've continue to update with every DLC.

If there is interest, I could start a thread showing off this zoo. As you can see, I've used EPCOT as inspiration like the World Showcase Lagoon. This zoo features 16 different "lands" so to speak, roughly by geography/biome from the entrance at the bottom clockwise: Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe/Middle East, North America, South America.

It has been fun trying to incorporate DLC species into areas that I previously didn't build out for, and since I've started to leave some expansion plots throughout the zoo to build new exhibits for potential new species. This zoo started with a hand drawn concept, my own master plan if you will, and evolved since then. I think I started this just after the Southeast Asia animal pack, so anything newer than that I've had to fit in on the fly. It's really been the Wetlands pack on that I've had to go back and edit previously built parts of the zoo as only half of the map you see above was built prior to that pack.

I would love to see a thread regarding this zoo, it seems like quite the marvel

I've tried building something similar, but my game lags too much if it gets too big. How did you avoid this?
