The facilities are organized by country, then in alphabetical order by the name of the facility. The individuals were organized by age.

HoHo had lived in Omaha for years with Cupcake, before being sent to Topeka when Omaha decided a splash pad and playground were more important than Bear Canyon. HoHo is still in Topeka, but Cupckake has passed away.

To be fair, the splash pad and playground are adjacent to the former Bear Canyon - with that being repurposed for sea lions and harbor seals. In a DRAMATICALLY improved space for the sea lions nonetheless.

I'll give you that - their prior location was incredibly horrible. We haven't been back since the new location opened so I completely forgot about it. I was disappointed to see the bears leave, since HoHo and Cupcake were my favorites, and the first things I see pop up in that whole side of the zoo are a ginormous splash pad and then the huge playground. It just made me realize that the profit and entertainment wing ranked higher than the educational value.

Also, to be fair, the Bear Canyon needed an extreme overhaul if they did keep the bears. At least the polar bear had the pool, the other bears just had concrete and plexiglass.
 
What is the current sun bear population? Glad I got to see Helaina this past year
 
Damn, last time I went they had four. It's the only facility (which will probably be the last) I saw a cub in the U.S.

Their one remaining is very old, too :( I've visited several times and there's been one less each time.

I’m still trying to figure out what’s the bears name . I believe Elvira was the mother and she came from San Diego .these were the three cubs born there if I’m not mistaken . Can anyone confirm which one is left .
