Bat eared foxes

I vaguely remember seeing their enclosure and indoor area near the visayan warty pigs in early 2021. They seem to have been gone. Does anyone know what happened to them or if they even existed?

Which zoo are you referring to? Fota or Belfast (since both have Visayan warty pigs)?

Also, I don’t think any of the zoos in Ireland have ever kept bat-eared foxes (not according to Zootierliste anyway), so you may not be remembering correctly.

Sorry for not mentioning but I remember seeing their indoor area in fota but you're probably right. I might be confusing them with something else.

Fennecs maybe? I'm aware of one collection that has them.. Tropical World in Letterkenny, Donegal has at least one, maybe a pair.
They were in fota I remember. The thing is I never even thought of bat eared foxes before that point so I don't even know why I remember seeing the enclosure.

I have occasionally seen unsigned animals in Irish zoos on visits. Which would then never be heard of again. It is possible they were being held for another zoo or maybe even died. Irish zoos are often secretive about new animal arrivals, departures and deaths.

That is interesting and it would be fun to see an unassigned animal. However the case at fota was the opposite with me remembering a bat eared fox enclosure with the signs and all but without the animal. I suppose it is a false memory as others have pointed out.
