Macaques in the UK

Chester has lion tailed and sulawesi macaques and longleat have a huge troop of rhesus macaques not sure about other collections though

Indeed they are, and unfortunately are also down to one individual who is completely off limits to the public as people make him very nervous and he is also very old

Worth noting the Stump-Tails are also likely to phase out soon. I believe three are left - Sylvie, an elderly female and the last survivor from the original lab rescues, plus the two more recent rescues - a pair of males (One is called Toto but can't remember the other, think they may be brothers).

Being all of similar age the numbers have really dwindled in recent years.

Howletts could use CCTV so that visitors could see the macaque without disturbing him

Bristol also had 2 or 3 elderly Lion-tailed macaques up to its closure. I do not know what subsequently has happened to them e.g whether PTS or moved to a sanctuary or other zoo.
