As a dear friend of mine and I are currently planning a long overdue return to the African continent for an extended multi-country wildlife spotting extravaganza, I have been working on updating my life list and thought I'd throw my list out for this thread! I know a lot of people here have seen a lot of animals in the wild, and don't remember all of them, but lists about mammals you've seen in the wild are shorter and and are better able to keep up.

I have already heard stories here on Zoochat of individuals who have seen wild moose, white-tailed deer, wapitis, and hippos, and relatives of me have seen bears and reindeers, so yes, my list doesn't amount to much:D. To, as @Austin the Sengi said, give this thread a well-deserved boost, I take this opportunity to also post an updated version of my personal first list, which started this thread. It still doesn't amount to much, but I'm still pleased to have witnessed a handful of European wildlife.
Of course, the list is not entirely accurate, since as a child I didn't keep track of everything I saw (a problem that I suspect more ZooChatters with such lists face, though of course some species make up for everything:p) so possibly this list is in fact more comprehensive.

While I have seen several familiar mammals throughout the earlier months of the year. It wasn’t until today that I finally saw my first new mammal of 2024; which also happens to be the first ever feline I have seen in both captivity and in the wild.

(39) Bobcat (Lynx rufus)

Thanks to this incredible sighting of a locally elusive species; my grand total now consists of thirty-nine species as of late, and will hopefully continue to grow from there.
 
In what will likely be my final mammal update for this thread, my list has seen some relatively minor changes since my previous update. Not only did I reach a significant number of seen mammals with the addition of the grey seal in August. I have also accepted the latest armadillo taxonomy, and I now consider the former “nine-banded” species to be the Mexican Long-Nosed Armadillo:

I think I have also seen Grey Seals, but given how fleeting and brief this glimpse was, from the window of a moving bus at sunset on the Isle of Skye, I can't say for sure that they weren't Harbours and it is only fair to exclude it. Likewise, with how often I see bats, I would be shocked if I have only seen Common Pippistrelles, but they are the only ones that I have been able to identify. Will have to start looking out for identifying qualities when I next see bats!
