Things That Irritate You in Life

Instead of irritation (and disgust) I am filled with great disappointment after finding out that a toy museum I have been meaning to visit (the Balat Toy Museum) got burned down at five AM this morning. While I don’t know the place based on the pictures from the museum’s instagram the collection was quite extensive which makes this fire a bit more harrowing. Thankfully no lives were lost. But I still feel bad for the owners of the museum.

A particular source of irritation the past couple days has been people driving aggressively in their souped up cars. Just because you spent a lot of money on your car does not give you the right to be a rude driver cutting in front of people and show off how loud you can rev your engine every 30 seconds on city streets. Especially to those revving the engine and squealing the tires in the neighborhood after dark. Seriously, chill.

College has been driving me bananas lately. I decided to attend the school I'm at now because they have an animal behavior program at the undergraduate level, which is very rare. But I don't like anything else about being here :( way too far from home, dorm life and food suck, and I can't put my best effort into my classes. I am probably gonna transfer next semester and get a wildlife-related bachelor's online with as many in-person classes at a local college as possible. If I decided to live at a school closer to home, I could get more help than if I did online, but would have to settle for majoring in nonspecific biology.

Things that irritate me in life,

1)When I say that I don't like humans, people respond with statements such as "Oh, so you hate yourself"? No. I don't. I don't deeply hate individual humans. I respect that humans are a complex species and that there are individual personality differences between everyone. What I do hate is how humans tend to make poor choices, despite the consequences for themselves and others, just for their own self-greed. The public won't say it out loud, but most of them will act ignorantly and immaturely nevertheless. Humans are the key to solving this planet's climate change. This is a chance for humans to finally do something good, but so far, they are making it worse. If we continue to trash our home, humans are not going to be the smartest species on the planet. My confidence in Humankind is dwindling right now. I hope that humans are not as bad as they sometimes act, but if they are, we are all doomed.

2)It annoys me when zoos don’t update their websites often, or they just don’t announce that they have a rare species, just because it is not a mammal.

How quickly I tend to get irritated or upset when things go wrong or don't go quite the way I want them to. I need to continue working on that.

I get that all the time
The way I see it....
I am not social myself, and so don't socialise with most people. I find that my interests are somewhat different to most people. Most people I know seem to have some degree of interest in sports.... something I couldn't care less about.
There are some people in my life that I cherish... but unfortunately this is not the majority of the human race. And it also is not the most powerful... but alas the snake-oil salesmen and oil barons reign supreme as ever, for better or worse...
I was going to put a slightly political comment in regards to oil here... but not sure if that would be allowed

As for sports, I'm not particularly interested in anything, except skiing, which I partly do to see wildlife but I also enjoy the snow and the feeling of going down the mountain.

I agree with your statement on humans. Some truly believe in making the world a better place, but then again, those people are not the entire Human species. There will probably always be people who will do selfish deeds, consequently harming others. However, that number can change. After all, most people have somewhat of a moral sense with which they live their lives. If humans realize the damage they are causing, perhaps the number of selfishness will go down. If the majority of people stray from selfish deeds, it is less likely that the people making money off of harmful work will have any power. However, some humans may choose money over the right thing to do, which will ultimately destroy this beautiful home of ours. I wish people could look over the money and see the real consequences of their actions.

I recall in the UK there was an act by the government which banned what they deemed 'intrusive protesting' - as had been done quite a bit by those against oil.
And I will say this. I respect that there are measures in place to make sure that ambulances get to where they need to on time. Lest the UK become a total anarchy state in this regard .... but all the same I find it hard to not see it as a move in the oil baron's favour... especially considering the current PM has good links with oil barons!
I just hope such a law won't enable even more stringent acts against activism....

Yes, that annoys me too when zoos assume just because it’s not an elephant giving birth or a new lion that people won’t be interested.

Several zoos across Australasia stopped regularly updating their news section on their website about a decade ago, citing socials was the place most people go (fair enough). Except now you have Melbourne Zoo posting videos of a gorilla wiggling it’s ears while a new species (Binturong) went on display a month ago without mention; and Hamilton Zoo, who thought we’d all like to know they’re selling Lego in the gift shop, but didn’t think introducing their Sumatran tigers for breeding was worth mentioning.

Whilst showing someone around my collection today, they commented what lovely birds and animals I had. I thanked them for their complement and then respectfully told them that birds are animals. This mistake annoys me especially when its made by people who should know better. I once had to point this out to an education officer who was responsible for an education pack for children, he was based at a well-known zoo, he replied that it was OK as the pack was only for kids. This is not good enough, any naturalist worth their salt would know this is basic stuff. How many times have I heard similar walking around a zoo ,as people are saying animals and reptiles, or animals and fish. Anyway that's the end of my rant.Sorry, obviously this is probably more appropriate for the zoo one!!

When people use "we" when they mean "they" (or "I"). Unless you are actively involved in something, it's not "we". Ex. Unless you're a member of the actual team, "we" didn't win the super bowl.
I completely agree with you on this. Even hearing someone saying "my team won/lost" when referring to their favorite team, it isn't THEIR OWN team is the most annoying thing about watching professional sports with other people. I even get annoyed for the same reasons in worldwide national team events, such as the World Cup when I hear someone say "we" instead of "The _____ National Team" won/lost the game.

Something that irritates me so much is Daylight Savings Time. I can't get over why it still exists cause there's no reason why it should.

I'm in a weird position on that because I hate that it exists but I really don't want it to be taken away, since that would make it basically impossible to maintain a schedule that allows be to go birding before my responsibilities start for the day for a good portion of the year.

I'm probably the only one that doesn't care.
As someone who never gets a full night sleep for the past 5 years, the extra hour once a year is very welcome.

There's so much more irritating things in life then daylight savings. But that's just me.

For me it is the other way around. Turkey stopped participating in changing DST a few years back. It was irritating to get up in pitch dark and go to school and return home in darkness. It is still irritating when I want to reach out to my friends I have to wait 1 hour later than I did in summer (which isn’t great when my friends are free in midnight of Turkey before DST, so now I have to wait until 1 AM to chat with my friends.)

This might stem from the medieval European classification of “the birds and the beasts.” They considered the eagle the king of birds, and the lion the king of beasts, so a griffin in heraldry was a combination of the two.
